No, I'm not bringing my boat. She lives in Lindale. What a great offer. Do you have room for all three of us? Her; April and her hubby Bill. If not, just tell us a good bank fishing spot. Isn't there a Tyler Lake? Does it have cats? I want to do a Fish Fry for them. Either on the bank or back at their house by the swimming pool. You are invited. I'll bring our famous Idaho Potato's for french frys. You can bring the hushpuupys.

I have a 22 foot fishing pontoon so yes there is plenty of room for the three of you. I will be happy to take you out. Again I'm not an expert so no guarantees but we can go have fun anyway. I don't know anything about Lake Tyler sorry.

Hey PapaJ. My daughter lives near Tyler and I'm going to see her the end of May. I want some catfish while I'm there. I herd Lake Tawakoni is the Catfish Capital of the World. Is that true. Where else would you recommend?

Howdy! Tawakoni is a Great Lake for catfish. Are you bringing a boat? I’m not an expert by any means but I will be happy to take you out in mine if you aren’t bringing a boat.

We are going to Broken Bow next week. I’ve fished a little in the river below the dam but never in the lake. Any suggestions for fishing the lake?

Howdy,

I hope you are all well. I have to figure out how to get this forum on my phone. I almost NEVER get on the computer anymore since I retired last October. I miss keeping up with all of you.

It has been WINDY here in North Texas. Not many good days to go fishing. However, I was able to go out with "The Electronics Guy" last Tuesday. He did AMAZING things with my LiveScope and other sonars. I can actually see structures and fish now! I'm excited and can't wait to get out there fishing.

Again, I hope you are all well. I will figure out how to keep up with this on my iPhone. May have to get my 10 year old granddaughter to set it up for me.

Blessing to you all,

J. Paul

Get bow near dock then put in reverse with wheel turned in opposite direction. Basically want to be moving forward when hit reverse.

If dock is on Starboard ( right side) you have boat steered right in forward. When near the dock with bow. Put in reverse leaving wheel turned right. This will make stern go towards dock.

Another thing can do is tie bow to dock and put in reverse with wheel turned right. Just above idle will draw boat against dock.

Thanks. I've tried that with limited success. I will try that again.

I have not done well with keeping up here since my retirement in October. I'm still working on figuring out my daily schedule. Busier now that I ever was while I was working! I will try to do better!

I've been out a couple of times on the pontoon boat that I bought in October. I'm still learning it. The most difficult thing so far has been navigating it to the courtesy dock during loading / unloading. The bow is not a problem but I need to figure out an easier way of swinging the stern in to the dock to tie it up. Suggestions appreciated!

I have a trip scheduled with the local "electronics expert" for 19 February, weather permitting, to fine tune my LiveScope and graphs.

Cheers,
J. Paul

Hello friends,

It's been way too long since I've been on The Stage. I've been retired now for 6 weeks and settling into a new routine. I think I'm about to figure it out and get in the groove of doing what I want to do when I want to do it.

I've missed all of you and I have a lot of catching up to do to see what y'all have been up to.

I've had the new pontoon out a few times. I'm hoping for some good weather to allow me to get out more often in the next few weeks. We usually have some very nice days in December here in North Texas.

I hope you are all well and wish each of you a stress free time leading up to Christmas.

J. Paul

Day two of retirement. So far it feels like vacation EXCEPT I don't have to carry that danged work phone and check work emails every hour. I guess it is starting to feel slightly real. Whatever the feeling...I like it.

Oh, Hooker, you sure started the week out on the right foot. So, what is this tank you are talking about?

I will answer for Hooker who is a fellow Texan. A "tank" is Texas talk for a pond or pool. Commonly called a "stock tank." In East Texas they are "pools". In Central and West Texas a pool is concrete and a tank is in the pasture.
