Day two of retirement. So far it feels like vacation EXCEPT I don't have to carry that danged work phone and check work emails every hour. I guess it is starting to feel slightly real. Whatever the feeling...I like it.

Everyday is going to feel like a Saturday for quite some time Papa, enjoy this new phase to the max. Welcome to your sweat equity pay out.
Papa J; Just take it easy, you will get used to it. Try sleeping till noon, not because you need to, but just because you can! It feels great! Just Sayin...RJS

Congratulations! Enjoy each day to the fullest...but don't worry about packing your schedule full to the gills with activities. Whatever you don't do today...you can do whenever you feel like it!

Itโs just a career change. Looks like you chose a good career this time๐
Well, when I retired my firm was generous and allowed me to keep my cell phone number. My wife and I went to an Apple store to get new phones. I have to say, if we had not had a young Chinese engineer who had a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering help us get accustomed to this new technology, I believe I would have taken my phone back and thrown it at the store!
However, once I got a wee bit up the learning curve, I got where I liked all the new technology. For instance, on rare occasions when I want, i can scroll on the screen and actually find the clump of cottonwood trees where I lived out in the country in far North Texas! Just Sayin...RJS
Congrats on your retirement Papa j. Been that way for me for about a year and a half. Everyone is telling you right. No more time clocks and if you want to put it off till tomorrow, for the most part, you can. I canโt get into the sleeping late deal, but everyone is different. Good luck

My youngest brother had that
happen - after nearly thirty years
as a goverment employee (Army/
Post Office), he was just about
ready to take an early retirement
at 55, with a really good pension !
He died of a heart attack on July 1, 2012 at 54, just TEN WEEKS short
of his retirement date !
Have been out of touch with my (former) family for awhile (6 yrs.),
but just found out that his son
made Commisioned Officer
in the CG Reserve recently ! I'm guessing Ensign (O-1), but he
may be a Second Lieutenant
(O-2) by now ! (GO, BRIAN !)
