I was at Perry yesterday fishing from the bank. Fished three different locations and didn't catch anything. Observed several other fishermen fishing and didn't see them catch anything either.
Nice looking crappies and bluegill. Ellis, Ks is 224 miles from my location so I'll look for something a little
closer to home. Thanks for letting me know, definitely would like to fish the watershed. Good looking
water behind you in the photo. Good fishing to you..........
Is it too much to ask about the location? I'm in Northeast Kansas and looking for a quiet place to fish.
Thanks
Try KDWP website for the latest fishing reports.
There is a YouTube video showing how to filet carp and eliminate the y-bones.
Hope he returned it to the water. That's one lucky fish and deserves to be released.
KDWP states as of March 17, channel cat bite FAIR, typical bait nightcrawlers, chicken livers, and cut bait.
If fishing out of boat, blue catfish, good. River channel and wind blown areas using dead shad.
KDWP states as of March 16, channel cat is slow fishing with warms and cut bait. Black crappie slow
Really appreciate the information. I live 8 miles east of Topeka and didn't want to waste 120 miles or more round trip and get there too early. Thanks again
I've never fished in this area and thought maybe some of the local fishermen could tell me when the fishing action will start picking up this spring. I'll be fishing mainly for crappie, catfish, and drum.
Thanks in advance.
I've read quite a bit about this area but never have fished it. This spring planning on changing that. I'll be
fishing mainly for crappie, catfish, and drum. My question is when does the fishing activity for these species start getting a lot of action in this spillway area? I thought maybe the local fishermen might give me a little info.
Thanks in advance.
I'm looking for recommendations on an ultra-light combo. Need something for casting long distances. I'll
be fishing mainly for crappie, bluegill, and white bass. I prefer a two-piece rod with a spinning reel.
The price is below a hundred and the fifty or sixty range would even be better.
Thank You in advance,
Welcome to the forum. I'm from the Topeka, Lawrence area and fish Perry reservoir. Checking the KDWP reports, they are a month behind in their fishing report, 10-5-22, for LaCynge. Fishing was great then for channels, crappie, and largemouth.
Welcome aboard and Happy Thanksgiving.............
I do the majority of my fishing at Perry reservoir. It's around 20 miles NW of Lawrence. Perry has been
a hit and miss situation. The game department did have a couple of fish feeders set up, but pulled them
out a couple years ago, due to lack of help in maintaining them. I enjoyed fishing around them, with a little
success.
Another good place to fish is when they are letting water out at the spillway. A person can do fairly well then
in catching channels, drum, crappie and occasionally a flathead.
Lawrence has Clinton reservoir that has good fishing. Especially the upper end when the Wakarusa river is
up and running. A good place for channel......

Welcome aboard GiGi. I enjoy catfishing also. We enjoy seeing pictures of you catch when you can show some.
Those are the perfect size. I have an oblong deep fryer that I like to take fish this size and fry whole.
