Kansas Fishing

I'm looking for recommendations on an ultra-light combo. Need something for casting long distances. I'll
be fishing mainly for crappie, bluegill, and white bass. I prefer a two-piece rod with a spinning reel.
The price is below a hundred and the fifty or sixty range would even be better.

Thank You in advance,

at less than 100 you're not gonna get much. grab a walmart rig. you can always get another one in a couple of months.

A 7’6” Okuma celios with Pfluger President reel will sit at about $100 and is a solid combination.

Agree with the Pflueger for the reel, and love both of my Celilos, a 7'6" & a 9'6". However, my latest favorite ultralight rod is an 8' Berkeley "Lightening", $39.99, I believe it was. Great rod for sensitivity, as well as casts exceptionally well using 6lb NANOFIL on my Pflueger #20.

Proof. They have 3 different sizes. Got one last summer for fishing in CT .Great reel.

I will second the Berkley 8' lightning Rod. I have some expensive rods and picked up the Berkley 8' rod on a spur of the moment purchase when I was invited on a Crappie outing for the next day. Now that is my go to rod for Crappie and Trout fishing from a boat or clear shore areas. I still prefer a shorter 5'6" UL rod for streams and wooded shorelines.

Go to Cabelas’s, bass pro or a local shop you trust. If your getting started don’t spend a bundle until you get the feel for it.

Berkeley Lighting rod for around 50.00 cones in two piece I own 3 of them and love them !!
I own several more expensive rods , but these are Great Rods.
There are a lot of great reels out there for 80.00to 100.00.
Good luck and good fishing.

Try a Shakespeare UL -7ft with open face spinning reel - usually a combo in price of
25 -45.00....
Use 6 lb floro or 6 lb Mr. Crappie Camo line..
This combo is good for Crappie (Spec's) up to 3 1/2 lb plus - tie on loop knot to all hooks,
jigs & crank baits. Fun fishing rig...

BK... I bought my son a President for his Bday and it was $84. Now you got me wondering if I paid to much?

I was looking at lightness - less stress on hand & forearm -
single pole jiggin can be a bummer at times -arms can really get tired
if not being used....

Walmart has UL rods 6 -7 ft -Made by Shakespeare -would put a Pflueger Trion(5 bearings)
with 6 lb Mr. Crappie - camo on -Reel only holds 65 yrs. Use a flocrabon 4ft leader -loop knot
to jig - will handle just about anything in Florida - if you let rod & reel work for you....

Will be under $100 easy and enjoy fishing for many years.
Remember Florida is much different below state line vs up north
Most lakes are like dish bowls turned up side down... very little cover other
than weeds, grasses... Bright colors us on jigs- Chart - Orange - Reds.....
Number 2 -4 hooks........long shank, minnow tip

Enjoy

I fought a fish 🐠 for 55 minutes with my $9.95 Shimano R2000 spinning reel and it still works great.
