Slow pitch outfit is a lightweight rod with matching reel , non of the above make a true slow pitch jig outfit ! Just simple jigging , no big deal! Fish can be jigged anyway u prefer !

Something else is happening ! I use 4 # Stren , Sunline , Trilene XL mono only on UL outfits . I couldn’t break the line without destroying my rod in the process !
Something else is going on for sure !
Lite line 7 turn clinch or uni ! Mono to leader no name knot or reverse Albright . Plugs etc uni loop .
Big game snell or Palomar . Line to leader bimini loop to offshore swivel crimp leader
Real big game HC spliced and crimp where needed ,
Lotsa choices I use based on how easy to re rig and overall performance!
Am t medium tuna should be no issue ! Hit it with a drop of Zap A Gap glue or some liquid gel that doesn’t bother lines . That will add slightly to knot strength and prevent abrasion !
You can purchase a cheap pair of sneakers if water isn’t ice you’ll be Ok !
I’ve always used less especially freshwater fishing . You have to judge size of fish , tippet being used etc .
You can always palm a fly reel to add additional drag if required !
Bear in mind it’s the start up smooth drag transition that may compromise lighter tippets on larger fish . Even water conditions can dictate drags , no set rule like conventional
Fines are not enough , whatever they are !
Why should they fish while most other anglers abide by the law !
Catch and release starts next Thursday that’s also a joke !
They get away with it since game wardens are spread very thin !
They have a hotline direct to wardens , report them it’s confidential !
Mono kept in cool dry storage will last easily ten seasons plus !
However it is the cheapest part of your gear , so I would purchase fresh .
Another caveat if stored on small spool memory will rear its ugly head , bulb spool not so much ! I go new when in doubt !
We’ve just downsized and storing the 80 or so rods I own is now an issue ! I have expensive outfits so I need storage ideas that allow me access but offer decent rod protection .
Rods range from salt to fresh and everything in between !
Well the simple fact is that 2-3-4 weight fly rods is by its nature a finesse presentation rod .
It’s designed for close in work usually under 40’ .
So the WF line tells in its name what it offers a taper that’s short and heavier then other lines . Hence its design is to move heavier / larger flies easier , at longer distances .
The DT line exhibits a more refined thinner taper that allows a finer less obtrusive presentation at short distances .
It loads the rod with less line being involved especially a closely bunched taper like in WF line !
This type line would make a cleaner presentation in close quarters tougher !
These DT lines coupled to a tip cast effort get you on the fish in close quarters with less effort and finer presentation for lighter outfits and smaller flies that don’t require heavier outfits to cast .
If however you’re on a larger body of water and distance is involved then I would line up with a WF or chose a tad heavier outfit .
Also a longer rod let’s say 7’ rod would load easier then a 6’ rod . Most shorter rods make are tougher to time your cast unless your an experienced caster and understood the mechanics of a cast and balanced outfit.
Try to get DT taper if possible load rod with shorter length of line ! However I feel a 3 DT would work fine ! Load quicker yet !!
UL & L is generally spin use mono ! Short range and open water mono is fine !
