Thanks, Grizzly. I was afraid of that ☹️

Our bass fishing has certainly fallen off in the last 6 years since the weed treatment started & picked up.

I just sent a set of questions and request for supporting data to our Weed Management vendor, Solitude 😬

Depending what I hear back, I may be able to get the Conservation Commission involved too 🤞

All inputs welcome,

Hello All
They treat our Lake with the Sonar & Diquat herbicides every year to manage the invasive weeds. But this year they also started early on April 27 for more effective weed management.

Our concern is that this is during the pre-spawn and spawn windows with boosters in the post-spawn period.

Does anyone have experience or data on the effects of such herbicides on spawning bass? The bite seems to be off this spring but i don’t know if that could be due to the early herbicide treatments or not.

I work with the Lake Commission and would love to provide some guidance related to duch trestments & timing.

Thanks

Man was last night crazy.
The wind was blowing consistently 25-30 mph from SSE. Did it make it tough, yes but that was my challenge for the night. Once again I had great success throwing a 4.5” Strike King Rage Tail Texas rigged. Caught 7 total. 4 Dinks & 3 monsters.
Here are the 3 biggest largemouth bass caught last night. The largest one weighed in at 6 pounds 13 oz.
Enjoy.

Great job, Tex
Some of the worst weather days to go out are some of the best fishing days 👍🎣

I introduced the Wake Boat, Board & Surfing topic at last weeks Lake Commission meeting, highlighting the 3 risks
1. The safety risk of the excessive wakes to all other boaters & swimmers.
2. The algae bloom risk to the Lake of a wake boat disturbing the sediment (at 16ft deep 🤭) and the caused phosphorous release.
3. The shoreline and property risk caused by the 2ft wakes hitting the shoreline, docks & boats ☹️

With a half hour of Googling, I found 9 states now that have put serious wake boat restrictions in place or considering whether to outlaw the wake boats or set limits on where wake boarding and surfing are legal.

Putting new bylaws in place is a slow & time consuming process but I hope that we can start it and in the mean time manage the risk with enforcement of MA laws that don’t allow the “rocking” of boats, docks & swinmers 🤞🤭

Inputs & suggestions welcome?

I like catching big pickerel also but I’m always a little disappointed that it wasn’t a monster bass that would put up that type of fight 🎣🤪

Hello
I’m going to be introducing the current movements to restrict wake boat uses to our Lake Commission tomorrow
night and hope that we can set some limits here.

I’m trying to find the final text of the Tennessee SB2107 but haven’t been able to find it ☹️

Has anyone else been able to find the final bill text?

Thanks,

It’s been a slow & disappointing start to 2022 fishing. Usually I would have 3 or 4 bass over 4lbs by now, especially during the ice fishing season but we’ve been unsuccessful this year.

It was still cold & windy but it finally happened. I have wanted to get the Swimjig into my fishing game this year and I stuck with it on Saturday while my buddy went with chatterbaits, swimbaits and bitsy jigs.

And the reward for my perseverence was this 5lb 8oz beauty 🎉

Time to finally clean and lube the reels.
Just in time for new boat to show up and wave bye to the old one. Out for a break in run Sunday.
Getting my bench cleared off tomorrow . Cleaning and servicing 12 reels.
Stowing all gear on new boat then off to Detroit river after work on the 29th for 2 days of what I hope is walleye catching beat down.

Wow what a ride!!!

Hey Mad
Lake water temps have been cold - below 50. And the bite has been tough.
I’ve been out many times but only a few small LMBs and a couple of big pickerels to show for it ☹️

Hi Ben
Nice setups! The GLX is my best rods. I don’t have any NRXs but my buddies swear by them. But they bought them 10 to 20 years ago when they were expensive but still affordable. I can’t justify putting that much money into a rod but do keep an eye on the used ebay market 😬

Right price I’d consider selling wife.
Well check that, I got a couple rod reel combos you’d have to pry from my cold dead hands.

Hey Ben
Great job on the paintings and boat 👍

Which rod & reel combos would not be for sale?

I got that Shimano DC reel and I’m impressed with the casting distance. I could still backlash it on a crappy cast but so far I really like it. If you do have good baitcasting reels that you’d like to sell, let me know. I know that you take great care of them 👍

Great. Nitro's seem to be the way to go these days. Just a heads up: If you want i-pilot with spot lock and jog, you should get on a waiting list now. I can not find a Minn Kota 80-24 volt 60 inch shaft riptide Terrova with i-pilot or i-pilot link anywhere including The Factory store. Several sources say stay away from the Ulterra as it has a lot of leaking problems caused by the auto stow system. Just a warning for anyone reading this that is getting a Minn Kota W/O a boat. There are several on line dealers out there that are advertising or showing photos of the new motor and shipping the older motor.

Hey Ben
That sounds like a sweet rig. Good luck 👍
If your TM is a Terrova keep an eye on your tranducer cables during load & unload. My Terrova is 2 years old but it cut the transducer cable in the first year. I found a Youtube that suggested wrapping the cables in a rod sock to better manage the load/unload wear & tear on the cable - and that worked.

Good luck on getting a black one 👍
