Had a nice little shakedown run at Beseck today. It wasn't quite as warm as yesterday and the
8-10 breeze was gusting to 15+, but I got out anyway. No luck with topwater or a swimbait, so it was Dinger time. I missed the first bite, probably early hookset. Caught a 2lb Largemouth skunkbuster, and then settled in. Caught 2 more cookie cutter males, and decided to shift gears. Pulled out the medium light, and the ultralight rods and went Crappie hunting. The blowdown trees were on fire. Caught 10 up to 1 pound or so. The wind was picking up so I picked up the worm rod one more time, and caught the big fish of the day, a 2lb 12oz chubby female. After that I called it a day.
Definitely a successful shakedown and first trip.

Wow Mike. Your talents seem to have no end. Nice lookin lure, job well done. Congrats brother.

Beat me to it Steve. Where else could one go and pick up a side of beef, bushel of gargantuan tomatoes and have your lures repaired. 😁

We are sending lots of water down your way I’ll bet the Mississippi will rise some.

Send as much as you can. It’ll flush that saltwater intrusion we’ve been experiencing back out where it belongs.

I use a black cast iron pan. It really holds the heat well. Oil temperature is about 350°.

Cast iron Dutch oven. Gets hot quick and stays hot. 350 degrees. Oh, and happy birthday. Hope you have a great day today.

It's where the Mill river joins the Charles. Great trout fishing upstream.

Was wondering. Saw moving water and thought it was a runout. A perfect spot to catch your fish anyways. 👍

April 4, 2024 me and four other guys from Salt Lake City and Tucson traveled to Venice Louisiana to go fishing for tuna 🍣

The ocean is so beautifully blue.
Hooking into tuna is no trout affair. They are so damn strong. It took at least twenty to thirty minutes to reel in your catch. At times, one had to hand the rod over to the next guy to help reel in their catch.

The highlight of the day was when we hook into a blue marlin!!! You shook have seen this great monster. It was so beautiful seeing it jump into the air and shaking its body to get free. Everyone had a chance to fight it until you got tired and then had off the rod to the next guy, even the captain and deckhand joined in the fight. Wow! 🤩

We are bringing home a lot of tuna 🍣
If you would like to see more pictures go to my Fred louis facebook page. I will post pictures there in a couple days.

The fishing is incredible in Louisiana!!
I will be planning another fishing trip to Venice Louisiana next year, 2025!
If you would like to come on a new experience, let me know!

Glad you had a good time Fred. The gulf has some amazing fishing for sure. I was at Venice one day early for an offshore trip and was at the marina when I struck up a conversation with some folks. Turned out they needed one more person for a scheduled tuna trip that morning. I reluctantly volunteered, 😁, we wound up with a boat load of blackfin tuna and a half dozen really nice yellowfin off of the mud lumps. They were all pass offs on the yellowfin. Gotta be one of the fiercest fighters in the ocean. As Fredfish requested, please post some pics on here. I for one do not have Facebook and would love to see them. By the way, the trip that day, the people were from Washington state, very nice folks. We did the same on the trip the next day.

Do you eat the whole thing just like the crab? I just ordered 12lb's of crawfish from our Harris Teeter store on Tuesday. Will get them on the 19th. They come live and $6.99 a lb. Can't wait.

They are cleaned like a crab. Pull the shell back, remove the entrails, close it back up, season and fry. I ate some boiled last Sunday. They were big and fat and delicious.

Winter wait is over. Big greenie today welcoming me back on the water. Saw some fish hanging in about 10-15 ft of water on the FFS, but really tough to motivate. Fritz’s flat side managed to catch a few good ones. All fish released to fight again. Tight lines to all

Beautiful fish JB. Nice work getting them to bite. Looks like some great weather to get out.
