I’ve repaired a couple of 6” rapala floaters lately with missing lips.
I don’t like how the company installs the lips. They are not much holding them in. The first couple of pictures is how they are originally notched very shallow. The wood is balsa and the strength is in the wire so i notched it out deep to the wire and made the new lip just to fit over the wire. This will hold up. I use a two part epoxy to glue it together and seal it up from the water. And I made the lips from lexan
These are the musky size rapala and they are kinda expensive

Nice work Mikey. Even the big brands quality is declining these days. Your improvement should outlast the wood. 👍🏻

A man of many talents, Mike do you have any relatives in Ohio?

The reason I ask is very obvious, for me anyway.

Beat me to it Steve. Where else could one go and pick up a side of beef, bushel of gargantuan tomatoes and have your lures repaired. 😁

Yeah. I'ma take all my busted lures a couple bushel baskets and a few empty Yeti coolers with me when I go visit Mike. That's all there is to it.

Nice work, I tried but ......no deal. At the cost of the lure, just have to try and repair.
