Had a nice little shakedown run at Beseck today. It wasn't quite as warm as yesterday and the
8-10 breeze was gusting to 15+, but I got out anyway. No luck with topwater or a swimbait, so it was Dinger time. I missed the first bite, probably early hookset. Caught a 2lb Largemouth skunkbuster, and then settled in. Caught 2 more cookie cutter males, and decided to shift gears. Pulled out the medium light, and the ultralight rods and went Crappie hunting. The blowdown trees were on fire. Caught 10 up to 1 pound or so. The wind was picking up so I picked up the worm rod one more time, and caught the big fish of the day, a 2lb 12oz chubby female. After that I called it a day.
Definitely a successful shakedown and first trip.

Good trip. Those are some nice looking fish. Those Crappie look very decent. Were they kept for a nice meal?
Glad the shakedown cruise was successful.

Thanks Jer. I didn't bring my cooler, so all were released. Everything went well, and I'm ready for the season.

Bet it felt great to finally get out there on the water to shake off the winter cobwebs! Nice collection of fish too. Are the bass bedding yet? Probably too hard to see with that breeze stirring up the surface.

Thanks DC. I don't think so, the water temperature was only 56.7Β° and that's a small lake. All 4 that I caught were along the steep banks of a 20-25 ft deep gully, right before the dam. I didn't see any at the shallow end of the lake.

Good outing
Great pics
I have been just lurking for a few months
Fell and broke a few ribs and fingers in January
Got bronchitis
So love you are out there still hitting it
Soon should be ready to rock and roll
Zoar water is high and muddy but I still see hard core guys giving it there all
Again thanks for the optical adventure πŸŽ£πŸ‘βœŒοΈ

Thanks Stephen. I was sure glad that they were in a playful mood. I saw a few other guys out, but didn't see any catching. When I was getting ready to leave, I turned a yak guy onto my spot. Hopefully he caught some.
I don't think the others have anything to worry about.

Thanks Jim. I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues. You gotta be careful buddy, we're not getting any younger.
Beseck was a little muddy, and a little green. Pollen is starting to fall, so that doesn't help. I wish this rain would take a break, I've had enough. Glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Nice bunch of fish Fred. I went to lake Keowee in upstate SC in mid March. Caught 1 spotted bass about 10 inches. Wind was terrible. Supposed to have been 5-10 mph, but much more. Going to Lake Hartwell toward the end of month camping and hopefully fish some. I'm confident in catching some bass, but would love to catch some crappie to eat while we're there. I think I need more patience to crappie fishing. Have a good evening.
