Restaurants - Los Amigos @ Crazy Horse Marine / Portside Bar and Grill adjacent to Virginia Dare / Difters / Magnum Point on the Blackwater / The Landing Restaurant @ Mariners Landing- since off season, need to check hours of operation
Other thread is correct about live bait.
Some of the best striper fishing this time of year is between 2-5:00AM. Focus on lights at night.
Water temps around 80. Check regs about limits and slots this time of year.
If you plan to release, make sure catch has been revived. Stripers fighting through warmer thermal-climes tend to suffer and thus if being released do so quickly.
Yesterday everyone was getting their last boat ride in and today it was so peaceful on the lake that even the stripers celebrated!
Casting whopper plopped.
The blitz lasted about 15 minutes and I think you could have thrown anything and caught a bass.

After 3 years, I experienced my first striper blitz on the lake. Sure, it does not compare to Block Island, but a heck of a lot of fun.
The blitz yielded this 27 incher. I successfully revived and released it
Caught this little guy around sunset last night on crank bait in 20 feet of water. Good news was he was released safely to hopefully grow much larger.
I believe this was a stocked fingerling from either very early spring or late last fall.
FYI, fingerlings typically grow about 18 inches their first year in SML. This guy was 13-14 inches.
Thank you for the link. I am bookmarking it.
I believe this was a largemouth and not Alabama. Reason for this is location of mouth hinge which you could not see in photo
Stripers being caught up on Blackwater at night under lights chasing shad up on riprap. Best fishing time 1-5am
It has been a tough spring fishing SML. No winter has led to a plethora of baitfish. Finally, broke the ice with a nice largemouth. Successfully caught and safely released.
At first, I thought I caught a submerged branch, then my lure began to move away from tree and it was game time!
4 to 6 ft passing over an old fallen tree in a shaded area with some sunlight coming through the trees.
Before I head back to the real world, I thought I would give my reel world one more chance. In doing so, I landed a nice 2 lb+ small mouth on a crank bait!
Released unharmed.
Until I return again!
