I just bought a jig mold pouring setup and now I need to find some good sources for buying lead. Just wondering if anyone has any tips where I can buy the purest lead for the least amount of money. I do understand I can melt sinkers and weights that I find or have already but for now I’m looking to start with quality pure lead. Thanks!

Try a sporting store with firearms, if they have a reloading section, they will sell lead bars to cast bullets, if not they should be able to advise who would

So for a bit of context I’m about halfway through highschool and spend pretty much every free minute that I can fishing, I’m also fortunate to be able to go to college if I want to. Personally, I don’t care all that much about how much money I would be making as long as I could live comfortably and do something I love (probably fishing). My parents seem pretty adamant on me going to college (again, I’m very grateful that I even have to opportunity to go) but I don’t think a lot of what I want to do after highschool requires a degree, so I’m just looking for some advice on careers in fishing or something related that might require some sort of degree or education, or just anything else that doesn’t, I just want to figure out what I wanna do early on, thanks.

If you are thinking of commercial fishing, take your time. I worked with a guy that lost everything trying to get started. Commercial fishermen are a special bond, they look out for each other. Dont buy a boat and start fishing, you will fail. Get to know some of them from your area. Take your time and it wouldn't hurt to hang at the docks and observe, but don't crowd.if they befriend you, they will give the best advice, and may even invite you out with them.

I’m headed to lake texoma this spring to get on some striped bass which is pretty exciting, but to be honest after learning there are smallmouth there I may even be more pumped for that. I live in a weird area where there somehow aren’t really any smallmouth so I’ve never actually caught one before. Also I’m primarily a bank fisherman and we’ll be on a boat so I’m also lost in that aspect

To cut to the chase, I know pretty much nothing and am in need of some help to catch a smallmouth which is a huge bucket list fish.

research the area, I fish on a lake that doesnt have a lot of fisherman, primarily, no motors allowed so i have to row, i found after 2+ hours using lures for smallies, i got nothing, i put a worm on and caught a 5 pounder, they tend to strike what they are used to

I'm newer to fishing. Started last year catching bass and panfish so I am familiar with that. I found out some waters near me have catfish in them, and I would like to catch them. I live in the northeast US so I'm not going for like giant catfish. Looks like around my area they seem pretty small. Just started watching videos on YouTube so I don't know much. What do I need to know? What gear do I need? From the videos I've seen looks like circle or octopus hooks and some good weights. Any help would be appreciated

Try moth balls, i've used them in stored cars before. Kept all the rodents out

I'd say golden shiner or fall fish, I've thought they were whitefish untill NH F&G advised what they were

I use a bobber and a worm in NH, I use the bobber to keep the worm just off the bottom, if I snag, i adjust the distance between the bobber and hook. there are spots that have vegetation bottoms. if its windy the waves move the worm. I've caught up to a dozen in an afternoon/early evening. People call the crappies, i've noticed also called pumpinseed, I call them Kibbies......lol

Don't bring them to New Hampshire, lead weights are illegal, need tin or steel
