Welcome to the site! I am from lower northeastern Michigan. I fish for walleyes a fair amount with my son in law. We just came back from Little Bay De Noc. We spent the weekend and caught a few perch, a small pike and a 28 inch walleye. Lost a couple as well. This was in spite of bad weather. Good luck with your fishing this year!

You should have the time of your life at that time. Good luck and remember to post some pictures!

The lakes ALWAYS have walleyes in them by the boat load. Ilm certain that a few fish may be in the river as well but the main run shouldn't happen until early April. The fishing is fantastic at that time. The weather is getting nicer then as well. Good luck if you go now but I can all but guarantee it will be better in April. Here in northeast Michigan they will start trickling in around early April but the end of the month and May are when the main run happens.

They shouldn't be there until sometime in April.

Lol! It's the first time we've driven on ice too. The only reason we were brave enough to do it is because there were at least 40 other trucks out there so we knew it would hold the weight. The ice was around 20 inches this and the bottom 16 to 18 inches were clear and rock hard. The scary part was at night when the ice would crack and you could feel the shanty move up or down.😁

Just got back from the bay. The day of our arrival a cold front moved in along with high winds. Nothing to report for the first day. The second morning we lost 2 nice fish in the morning, one right at the hole! Damn ice cut the 12 pound test fluorocarbon. That afternoon we caught 2 small perch and a small pike. The fishing was slow. We saw a lot of walleyes on the camera but they had lockjaw. Finally at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday the tip drop went off and we managed to haul in a 28 inch walleye. At least we didn't get skunked! It was so windy that the sleeper shanty moved 6 inches during the day. It was like that all weekend. We WILL be back next year to give it another shot. I've never seen such great structure in my life! Several 30 to 35 inches were caught 2 weeks earlier.

That's what I was told. My son-in-law rented a sleeper shanty for 2 days for my birthday. The only date left was for the of the season. All the shanty's are being pulled at midnight the next night. He said it couldn't be a better time. We'll see. I sure hope so.

Thanks Robert, I promise I will. I have been told that I will be getting there at one of the best times for big eye's. The few reports I have found sounds like it is hit or miss right now. They should be starting to stage for their spawning run around that time I think. We'll see!

Hello everybody, I am headed for Little Bay De Noc in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in mid-March. I am wondering how the fish are biting there now and what they are hitting. Thanks for any info you can give me. This will be my first trip there and I don't really know what to expect.
