Everybody is getting stir crazy. Figure out a way you can get out of the house and walk around a little without breaking any quarantine rules.

FixorFish: I am too old and too far away so you should find somebody locally. I know guides are expensive but call one up and ask to make a deal. Going on a guided trip as a last minute replacement can be cheaper and can help you meet new people interested in fishing but not experienced. Worked for me once.
Another way is to hang out at tackle shops, listen to the bs and find potential holes, tips on tackle. My son is my local expert on latest rumors.

I agree with above; get a good guide, save time in getting into steelhead. Beware, it’s an addiction, never goes away even when age and arthritis and tremor and high BP get in the way...

Portland, Oregon. I just updated profile. I enjoy throwing flies on the north coast rivers. I’m lucky enough to have a dozen different rivers to choose from. Everything is low and clear right now, so I was sight fishing on 3 different rivers. I enjoy solitude when fishing, so most locations are known but hard to get to. Keeps most people away and fish less spooky. Yesterday I fished the Trask, North Fork Trask, and the Kilchis. The big guy was caught on the Kilchis, other two on the N.F.. I know it’s always the one that got away....but I lost a big native buck that looked 43+”. Now I know where he abides. Had great dreams about him last night. Oh well, guess I head back Sunday 👍🏻

Nice fish buddy. Too many details on locations; crowded already...

I prefer brown polarized for fresh water. I buy cilip-ons because I lose the expensive prescription glasses.

I read mostly fishing stuff from old guys. I hope all of you realize the increased susceptibility o f all of us to corona virus because of our age. Please stay out of crowded places and stay home if possible. The fish will still be there when this is over.

No bites; try different lures, bait, flies, ask nearby fishermen what they’re using. People are usually less rude when they’re fishing.

Much good advice above. Try a small split shot a foot or two above the lure, increase weight in small increments if you need more distance to get to the spot you want.

Go to the tackle shop, tell them what you’re fishing for and lures/bait you plan to use. They will advise you on size and type of swivel, or to tie direct to main line . Take your time, you’re not in a hurry. Everybody our age shakes a little😋

Thanks for your service TeMo, lots of old guys BS here but info from way back is still useful and appreciated. Another useful site with good fishing info including videos by young fishing experts is You Tube.

I have had both knees and both hips replaced in last 15 years, plus balance problems so I hear you. I am planning to fish for springers but probably in a boat. So, tight lines and disappearing bobbers to you and all my fellow salmon steelheaders in the great rainy northwest😎.
