Never had a problem using them. Remember my age fingers and hands do not work well enough to keep tiring knots. It will be difficult enough to us the snap. Older fishermen will understand. My question was not whether or not I should use them.

well, when one of them pulls apart or breaks with big fish on you may change your mind..I am 73, so I guess that qualifies as being "older" (than many here, anyway)...
....either way ..keep on fishing!!!! I can't remember what size I used way back when..
have fun!!!

Fished over 75 yrs never had a problem and as previously stated my question was not whether I should use them or not. If you don’t know the answer to my question please don’t respond or criticize. I follow this site everyday and always found courteous conversations. Must be the time of day.

I’m right there with you I would never have thought I couldn’t tie a knot. It either goes pretty good or I’m so mad I ruin my trip. I’ve been practicing most of the winter to try to get better. I think I will use the Palomyer so sorry for the spelling and the Uni knot for everything uni for leaders and the one I can’t spell for my lures. I tested fluorocarbon with the improved clench. Line broke in the knot at about half of the line rating. The one I can’t spell always broke above the knot and broke above the line rating. So I feel ya brother.

With my trembling hands, my wife ties my knots and then pulls on disposable rubber gloves and threads on a night crawler.
So I know where you are coming from.
