I found some extensive research a few years back that recommended amber lens for shallow water for best view there, blue lens for offshore fishing and either grey or green for general purpose use. I have some of each and have found that the amber lens really do a fantastic job of providing clarity in water of five foot or less, especially when the water level is four foot or less.
[quote=wellfield]Go to braid line..I'm fed up with mono and it's 'spiraling' effects and it's 'memory'[/quote
Braid line causes terrible birds nests (wind knots) if you do not keep some tension on the line while retrieving your cast without a fish on.
I prefer to use 10 lb Berkley Fluorocarbon as my main line and a six lb lb leader of the same when using very light terminal tackle/lures. It is easier to break the light leader off if you gat caught up on some structure etc.
I’m using an IPAD. Any Apply users out there that can figure it out? By placing a finger on and dragging down let’s me copy it, but, cannot carry it over to Facebook and paste.
Just figured it out, going to have some fun with this!
Simply put, I just cut a line from my wife’s knitting yarn and tie a unit knot around my running line where I want the depth to be. If I want to change the depth I just grab the knot tightly and slide it up or down. Yet it has never slipped when fishing.
If I don’t want to bother with that, I put on a tube type bobber stop.
