I enjoy the youtubes. However, most of the video stars are smart enough not to reveal their locations.
Obviously, California has an immensely long coastline and fish are everywhere. I simply like to hear about individual location preferences.

Well when you find a great spot with lots of fish and good access be sure to let us all know where it's at and post some photos.

Okay, this isn't in CA, but I live in CA (Fresno) and got to make a trip back up to the PNW to enjoy some buoy 10 action. Thought I would share a couple of pictures because that is what us fishermen do. ;) The pictures look the same, but if you notice they are 2 sets of fish from 2 consecutive days. Tight lines all.

Combat fishing? How many craft per square foot?

Actually it wasn't bad, they only made natives legal our first day. I have been there in my boat when it was boat to boat, which I obviously hate. The fishing was pretty spread out, there were fish to be had in most of the areas that were 20' or deeper. One of the "calmest" Buoy 10 fishing experiences I have had. Of course we normally fish around the Astoria bridge and don't go all the way to the mouth - that is where most of the combat fishing is.

Nice fish.
Driving through Northern California we stopped at a river to take a break, the boats were all going the same direction in a circle trolling. There was a small Coast Guard craft at the mouth of the river to help those who had trouble with their boats.
We saw a guy land a nice one from the shore.

Hello all,

I'll be heading down to the central valley this coming weekend to do some fishing at Lake Kaweah. Does anyone know how the fishing is? I have just taken up fishing maybe a few months ago because my boys said they were interested and now the entire family is hooked (no pun intended).

Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with that lake. Sorry del. If no one answers, try doing another post in the location specific section and put Kaweah in your subject line.

Kaweah is my home lake , the lake is holding at about 12% capacity ,it's very low, but if and when you go around the marina there are Crappie and a few bass, sometimes the dam area is good for catfish , other places you should be able to drive down is the second ramp, I would definitely go early or late afternoon because it will be full of skiers and jetskies during the day ,we use small minnows for Crappie , lures for bass, chicken livers,or stinky bait for the cats ,good luck and tight lines, p.s. look for Rocky outcrops from the shore ,fish will hold around there until it's too hot and then move to deeper water,,,,,

Thanks Jarheadfishnfool. My wife rented a flatboat for the day on Sunday. We are super excited to get out on the water.

Dude, I would have to have a photo of one of those perch. I've had some pretty good arguments on here about whether or not there are perch in California. I say no way, except for one lake that's mostly in Oregon.
