Katriniagirl: Well lady fishergal, I think there are some in and around Miami in the canals there. I caught my PB in Brazil in the Amazon. It weighed 19 lbs. While the Peacock Bass that weighs 20 lbs is the magic number, i was quite happy with my fish.

Peacock Bass are very territorial and will aggressively attack any intruder. Therefore, we used a Heddon Woodchopper lure. It is a big lure maybe 9 to 10 inches long with blades on either end. You do a modified "walk the dog" retrieve and if there is a Peacock Bass there, you are very likely to get a blowup. It was a fun trip, we fished 4 days and caught many fish, I probably landed five or six that weighed 4 to 8 lbs.

We flew from Houston to Miami and then an overnight flight to Mananus, Brazil. From there a puddle jumber further west to a grass landing strip along side a small village on the river where we met our guide and a house boat that we live on for the week.

If you are interested, send me a personal message and I will forward a photo of the mounted fish I have on the wall. Just Sayin..RJS

Hi Kat,

Don't know where Jensen beach is, but if it's not in South America, then you're not likely to catch a peacock bass.

But is WEST Palm Beach on the West Coast of Florida? RJS. Is the Touch Screen with all the models distracting you again?

If its not on West side of it I wonder why its called WEST.

Palm Beach, or "Palm Beach Proper", as $OME refer to it as, sits between the ICW & the Atlantic Ocean... West Palm Beach is West of the ICW (& MU¢H "lower rent".)

I have been to the Amazon basin twice. Both in the 90s There is no other types of fishing, in my opinion, that compared. The first trip my best was a 13.10 lb and the second was a 22,5. the first on a woodchopper the second on a 3/4 oz red spinner bate. both are on my wall to keep me fired up about peacoc bass. one day my fishing partner caught a 24.12 lb and i had to hold him by the belt or he would have gone over the side of the boat. If i had the know how i would pit pics of them both on this site. Big beautiful beasts.

You have to fish the canals just West of Miami. I would hire a guide the first time.

Probably should just refer to the coasts as left (west) and right (East).

¿Why on Earth, is North Canton (Ohio), South & West of Canton, OH? ...[But right there, BOARDERING Canton!] ... Seems like we've ALSO got some "little burgh", called "Upper Sandusky", which is actually, WAY South of Sandusky.

Peacock bass are all over central Florida south. Freshwater fisherman are catching them around Tampa. I haven't done any fishing for them but talked to guys that target them. One guy showed me his catch a 6 lb.

I hadn’t heard of them being in the Tampa area I live in Port Charlotte area and we have none around here that I know of. It will be great if we start getting them in the channels in my area.

Looks like you have to be a resident to take advantage of any military discounts.

I haven’t heard of any hot peacock bass fishing in the Bradenton area. I would plan on heading closer to Miami. Maybe your friend knows something. If you get there and find any good peacock bass fishing please let me know. I am only 60 miles from that area.
