My son-in-law and I had a great day on the ice today. Same lake as last time, same spot. Couldn't catch a pike for nothin. BUT...I DID catch a bluegill over 11" long with a huge girth along with several 8 and 9 inchers. 20 keepers and about as many smaller ones. My son-in-law caught several bass around 18" as well. I can't explain why
we didn't get pics of the bass. Lol.

Sweet. Great job. Now that’s a big bluegill Dave. 🇺🇸🐠on

Dave....
To reply to a particular individual press " Post Reply " and it will include partial text of the person you are replying to above your response. "Reply" button just sends it out as a general post, kinda confusing. Si ?

Great Bull ‘gill Dave! Going to make a nice mount!
Looks like you had another sweet day on the ice! Even if your northern didn’t show up this time…😎

I see. Thanks! But it's quote reply on my phone instead of post reply. I was wondering how that was done. Lol.

I know right? It's crazy that we didn't catch a single pike. We had 4 tip ups out between the 2 of us. Last time we only had 2 tip ups and caught several pike in the same area. I planned on applying for a master angler certificate but it appears that they took the page down online as of January 10. That was the only way to apply. I feel like I got a ripped off. I wonder if they are stopping it. Oh well. I'd rather have the mount. The certificate and patch would have been nice but they aren't that important to me. Thanks for the nice comments.

Will do! Lol. Pretty sure I just got lucky. It looks like they stopped the master angler program. The only way to apply was online and they took the page down on January 10.

O NOOOO, say it ain't so! I am fortunate to know a certified master angler for his pike catch and keep. They gave him the koolest vest along with the other credentials associated with the honor. I worked to get me one every year since.
BTW I figured why you may have got skunked on the toothy beast. It probably ate on those bull gills you lifted on the ice and found somewhere to take a nap.

I'm not sure if they stopped it because I haven't heard anything. The fishing guide tells how to apply and says the last day to apply is January 10. After that the page will be removed. I tried to go to the page anyway thinking they meant the 10th was the last day to apply for the 2022 season. Nope. The page is gone and there is no other way to apply as of right now. Imagine how I feel knowing I missed out by only 12 days! Oh well. It's not about the certificate. The mount is much more important to me. I think you might be right about those pike. Lol. I think maybe they were eating the little ones we were letting go.
