Convicted Felons have been forbidden to possess a firearm, for decades. A young man or woman can join the military (or be Drafted) at age 18... I, personally, took a "Firearms Safely" sort of a "course", up in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; way back, in the early 1970's... This allowed me to "possess and use" my firearms, WITHOUT "adult supervision"; and I believe that I was only 14 years old, at the time. ... I'm thinking that "safety courses" +/or "History Courses" of sorts, OUGHT TO BE a requirement, for ANYBODY to even TOUCH a firearm, in my opinion... I've seen too much careless and dangerous behavior, while out shooting with other people.
I am, however; AGAINST any kind of a "forced gun registration" program, anywhere in the United States. There's already a wheelbarrow full of "Gun Laws" on the books... "They" need to ENFORCE them

You are right. Thanks for the reminder. I was also proficient with rifle and shotgun at 13-14, got my 1st deer and many doves that yr. We were tought safty. Something else has changed in this country, we did not even think about shooting up a school or church. Something has radicalized people to do these things. Something is playing to our basest thoughts and feelings.

Yes, SOMETHING has DEFINITELY "changed" in this country!!! (¿Anywhere near the time, that they forebade "Prayers in the Public Schools"?)
I've got no right, to try and force "My Way" on anybody, but; I have been and intend to continue praying that GOD Bless America, that HE Bless "all those in positions of Power &/or who are in positions of Authority"... All of our "First Responders" and each Member of our "Armed Forces", no matter what branch. (I also ask HIM to "Bless our Enemies" (as instructed in the Gospel according to Matthew, in Ch.5:44-45!)

How about taking paddling a kid out of school. If I got paddled at school I got a whipping at home 😳 I don't believe I ever got one that I didn't earn 🤔

Yeah, you right, Whitey!! I got my few occasions to be on the "bent-over end" of that paddle!! When I moved out to the East Coast, beginning in 9th grade, they didn't "believe in" Corporal Punishment!!! (And ya SEE how THAT works out for 'em!!!!!)
Thanks Maid Marion. I like your thoughts and the fact you are open to talk instead of just forcing your opinion on others. Compromise may start changes that work for both sides and the greater good. Being bull headed on BOTH sides of any issue gets us nowhere.

Did you read the bill or just jump on someone else's bandwagon. What is in this "Monster" bill.
If that many republicans are interested you might want to take a look.
10 isn’t a lot of people in the grand scheme of things.

10 to 300 million, no. 10 to 40, better odds

Gotcha. Thanks. I didn’t notice it was out of 50 people.
Check out school choice purposal. 10 billion to set up donations to organisations that dole out choices first come first served. 2 red f**gs for me. ?money grap? Nonequal opportunity program? Who stands to profit from this.

Maybe so, but say it where it's appropriate. Not here. Post it in the attic. The problem is although many on here will agree with you, many don't as well.
hi spirit good hearing from you glad you are back. but I would say the attic is the place to say your piece. if you never posted anything someone else disagrees with nothing would ever be posted. even if you post what bait to use for trout someone will disagree. just keep the posts in the proper categories so it is appropriate for toe category it is in and the attic is for anything controversial

the sad thing is few actually read the bills even those who v**e for them. there is a lot I think most could agree on if it is stated clearly and simpllly. while I could agree with red f**g Laws on principle the devil is in the details. who gets to decide, where would the burden of proof be, right to confront acuser, penalty for false accusation and etc. crazy people should not be allowed to have guns but taking away someone's constitutional rights has to have some strong safe guards that I have not seen in the discussions.

As long as sides continue to work together I doubt a gun bill will get Rammed anywhere. Given time they will pick it apart, probably to death. I hope this time we get SOMETHING, at least background checks, age 21 and no huge magazines. Who NEEDS an asault rifle. When we are children wants and needs are the samething, hopefully when we're adults there is a little space between.
I could agree with some of what you day. we already have background checks the big problem is not all needed information gets into the data base so people still pass the checks that shouldn't. the phrase "assault riffle" is misused and has become meaningless except to try to scare people. while I do not have an ar15 I have shot them and they are great guns and fun to shoot and I would never be for banning them nor limiting the capacity. however I would consider not allowing anyone under 21 from buying or owning any Simi auto gun be it hand gun or long gun actually I think they should have kept v****g age at 21 as well. but to your point there are some things we could agree on so why not pass those first and argue the rest later

what school choice is this? it does not sound like a good bill. but I do support school choice. I support the money following the students to what ever school they go to private, charter or private. will not cost more just where it is spent.
