They're all perch in California too, which is really odd because there are no perch to speak of here. I know all this, I just like people to explain it to me to see where they're coming from. And I really wanted to know why he said bream and bluegills in the same sentence. Kinda like saying you like to fish for trout and rainbows. I'd like him to explain the difference to me. But looks like we'll probably never hear from him again.
We dont have "perch " in Cali per se , but what do I know some say we had perch in a lake that doesn't have them anymore, I've gone down this road before !!๐๐ค
Thatโs the way Iโve always know it too.

Spirit, Bluegill, Redear, Pumpkinseed and Redbreast..... Until you get to Texas, where they call them all Perch.
Yep, perch it is. My favorite day is perching at the lake. I don't care what I catch, so long as I catch. They are all fun to catch. Bait or frying pan.
My FIL was John but everyone called him Lee. No stir Cotton. So bream and bluegills are the same thing far as you're concerned? Interesting. Are you a native Floridian? Born and raised there? I grew up in Indiana, by dad was from Alabama, and when he talked about bream no one had any idea what he was talking about. Same here in California where I now live. Here if it ain't a bass or a trout, it's a perch.
Born and raised few miles from escamvia river. Fished it for over 50 years. Fished it with my dad as a small child learn how to fish with him still use some of the same ways we Fished back then.

Don't be sorry no big deal, we all have different names for the same thing. Hell my brother's name is Joe and we all call him John go figure.
TRUTH you all call your brother Joe by another name may I ask why? ๐บ๐ธ๐
Catahbah worms or meal worms.
Bream have no relation to the other โsunfishโ, nor do black or white crappie. LM and SM bass are sunfish.
