Well, to add gasoline to the flames, for all those names of sunfish, we called them "bait"! Because that is all we used to catch catfish. Just Sayin...RJS

They're all perch in California too, which is really odd because there are no perch to speak of here. I know all this, I just like people to explain it to me to see where they're coming from. And I really wanted to know why he said bream and bluegills in the same sentence. Kinda like saying you like to fish for trout and rainbows. I'd like him to explain the difference to me. But looks like we'll probably never hear from him again.

I know this bothers you for some reason but Google "perch in ca". UC Davis lists the Yellow Perch and the Sacramento Perch in California waters. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.

I don't think I need to be an ichthyologist to catch fish.

Good thing we don’t, because I can’t pronounce “ichthyologist” and would not be able to spell it in my own, either. 😂

Thanks, Henry, I’m gonna practice saying that. Lol
Not too long ago, my grandson Liam corrected me about a species. I was all excited about having caught a Northern Pike, but he was quick to say, “no, Mimi, that’s a chain pickerel. You can tell by these markings right here…” etc. Schooled by an 11 year old (at the time)! He’s definitely the better ich…icth… itch… well, you know. 😂😂😂

Usually if I'm fishing specifically for panfish it's for bluegills/sunfish to use for bait to catch catfish.
