I know it used to be here, that if you were involved in an accident you were 15% responsible because you were there, and you didn't need a red f**g if it didn't stick out 4' or over.

I know but as I must explain to some I’m not just like a normal everyday saying. Actually now I am retired so I can fish much more.

Right but only way to get any of that footage is to subpoena it or be a Government Entity.
If she didn’t report it to DMV then nothing will happen. She would be crazy not to call her own insurance. The people that never make a claim a nuts. The rates don’t go up like crazy from using what it is for. Pay premiums for decades but not use it when it is time is cray cray, I get it if you had a truck that was already scratched up. Sometimes people don’t want to report it because they have a lot of wrecks or maybe don’t have a license. I always report if someone hits me. They pay too.

You know me, minimum government/regulation involvement thing, I had no reason to press and have had someone not press (master cylinder failed as I was stopped behind him and tapped him before I realized what was happening and threw out of gear) steel bumpers were a good thing……..

I get why you wouldn’t.. I’m just saying what I learned when someone wrecked into me and I didn’t tell DMV. I did insurance stuff etc. settled. But low and behold a warrant. I never had any warrants for anything. DMV was like this happens all the time. Weird the story fault Insurance doesn’t do all the DMV stuff. State said it’s the law because people try to shift blame even after insurance pays. They don’t want the points on their DL. Everyone seems to think dishonesty is the right way anymore.

That whole state is that way. And I can tell you, from experience, any insurance company can get those recordings any time they have a claim. It’s not just government agencies or subpoenas that get em. People in the wrong who are smart won’t turn you in under false pretenses there. My insurance company had no problem obtaining the footage when one of my employees was accused of backing into someone. The lady pushed it and not only proved she had rear ended someone but it wasn’t even my company pickup on the footage. My pickup was in the lane next to her and she had rear ended another vehicle at a stop light and, obviously, decided to blame it on the first license plate she could get.

The term used to obtain footage is a subpoena. And you just answered the reasons they want anyone and everyone to report to DMV so when all the claims and accident reports are on record no one can change the story. That’s exactly what this silly state claimed so they were telling the t***h.
