Because of my usual skepticism, I'd say it's a sales pitch. I've fished Lake Tawakoni off and on for years mostly stripers ,sand bass, crappie catfish. I've used red Cajun line , yellow line, green line.
Red , gold , black hooks . I really haven't noticed any major difference.
There's a couple guys on YouTube
" LakeForkGuy " and 903 fishing I think. Maybe they have an opinion

It always amaze me what and when fish want something. Last week trout fishing caught them on green garlic power bait. Today same time , same place, all they wanted was pink mouse tails go figure.

That’s fer sure. With Kokanee they may switch up on ya a couple times a day. Go figure. But I do really well with chartreuse…🐟on

Yep! It’ll put fish in the box. And just old yellow corn won’t work…🐟on

Dave, I just watched a video of fishing for Kokanee. They’re a smaller size than I thought a Salmon was. The article did mention shoe peg corn among other baits. Maybe you can explain to me what the guy fishing was doing with the big ball weight. Also what is a soft rod?

I got on a kick one year when I painted spinner blades red . Caught fish like mad for a while then it died down. Don’t know what’s up with that . And hasn’t been especially doing well since. I don’t use em any more

And a red lipless crank baits are one of my go tos . They always produce. But bone color is probably my go to on these

Hooks? Don’t personally care for red hooks.
I do upgrade trebles on lures I don’t like the hooks on.
Usually anything that doesn’t have black nickel finish is getting changed
I like Trokar, VMC and Gamagatsu. With VMC probably being my favorite.

Hey,Hack. The Kokanee are a landlocked sockeye salmon. I’ve heard of them getting up in the low 20”s. Largest I’ve caught is a 17”…They grow according to the lake size, food availability and population size. The ball weight is your down rigger ball. And a soft rod is a very limber rod. They make a specific Kokanee rod. I use the Lamiglas rods. You can actually bend them in half. Kokanee have a very soft mouth and the “soft rod” aids in not ripping the hook out of their mouths. I also use only mono for its ability to stretch. Hope I’ve answered your questions. If you watch the next video after the one you sent that’s Lake Merwin. That’s where I fish for Kokanee…🐟on

Well after reading all of the replies, I have some good red circle hooks so next time out saltwater fishing I’m going to use them in a white plastic bait with a red stripe and see how well it does. First I’ve heard about red hooks supposed to be better.

Howdy Brother Hack. I can't believe you never heard some pilgrams claim red hooks work best. I've got grandkids in diapers that know all about red hooks. Give them a try for yourself. I really can't tell the difference. Sometimes I catch fish & sometimes I just fish. Yesterday I bought a package of #6 size drop shot hooks in red. I'm going to try them on crappie. If they work I'll let you know.

If you watched the video that Hack presented you’ll notice that he has preloaded the rod and it’s bent over all most to the water. That’s a soft rod. Orrrrr maybe it’s what these ads that have been circulating on here are all about😜🤣😂🐟on

A sales person in a Bass Pro indicated that if you changed the hooks on crankbaits or top water lures to red hooks, you would increase your catch numbers. Just wondering what anglers on the forum felt about this concept. I appreciate any and all comments.

If I was gonna swap to red colored hooks, it would only be for topwater baits or crankbaits that run less than 8 ft. Red color disappears after about 10 ft, turning to a grey color. personally I wouldn’t waste my time. My 2cents...
