I'm pretty sure "high sticking" is fighting a fish while holding the rod by the rod above the handle - don't do that, that's what the handle is for and that's how the rod was designed. I've seen people high stick while they were snagged thinking it would give them some leverage. It doesn't and the rod usually breaks.

It's a lamiglas. I just went out in my garage and looked for it, found it, and the tip is broke off of it. Well, chit. Maybe that's why I never liked it? I don't remember doing that. Damn kids.
Funny thing about those lamiglas rods, that's the only rods that I've ever broken while fishing. I am not a big fan for that reason. Pretty nice rods. Til they break.

Yeah, I’ve broken a couple of tips myself. Somehow they seem to get under foot or jabbed somewhere. But fortunately the Lamiglas factory is in Woodland Washington, which is where my sister and brother-in-law live and where I do my Kokanee fishing. And for $20-$30 you can buy a new tip. gloomis and Gary Loomis’s new company, “Edge” are also in Woodland. Also Hawkin fishing products and Angler West. And a 1/2 mile from the Columbia. Very popular fishing area…🐟on

“High Sticking” is when you raise the pole “past” 45 to 60 degrees while fighting a fish. Per “google”…🐟on

Sounds like you are in a good spot for fishing and getting gear and repairs.
