I am not familiar with the body of water you are talking about. But at 72, I still find a great access to otherwise closed water is a float tube.

It's part of Ft. Fredrick state park in western Washington co Md. It's a small place. The pond with the boat ramp use to be full n had a decent bass population n a pretty good crappie population. It's way down now. Supposed to have a hole in it that's leaking water out. Couple weeks ago I went on back the dirt road n there was the lilly pond. A float tube probably wouldn't work well there with all the pads. It's also has a healthy population of snapping turtles. I'll go back up n make sure I can fish there. If I can I'll find a way to get in it. I woke up this morning thinking about it. If I can back up to the rock n my tailgate clears it I should be able to launch. I know for sure there is fish in there that's why I want to explore it. 👍👍

Buy her a pair of shoes that match the canoe. Wrap them as a gift and tell her they are for when she goes out on the canoe with you.

Lol the one I'm looking at only comes in green n red she doesn't like either. Plus she doesn't like fishing or the water unless it's a pool. She'll go for a boat ride but she won't go if I'm fishing. It's too hot there's bug it stinks. 🤔. She'll spend all day at the pool. It's not hot there she can get in n cool off. Told her I'd get a ladder for the boat. She could get in m out. Can you believe she didn't appreciate my generosity 😳

It is hard to believe when we got married, we canoed, jet sledded the Kenai, climbed in Denali National park, tent camped, and even glacier hiked. She also went fishing with me, went on rides to wherever the road took us and lived on a sail boat cruising with two young kids from Maine to Florida. I am not really complaining. I have lots of memories and still get to play. She never objects to me going fishing, even if it is for a week. She just wants to know when I plan to get back so she does not have to worry. More important, she wants to know how much uninterrupted quilting time she has. The one thing I am still working on after 49 years, is her early declaration. I will eat it, but of you catch it or kill it, you clean it and you cook it. Life ain't all bad

We also had alot of fun in the beginning. Many trips to OBX one to Myrtle beach. Many wkn trips. Lots of bike rides. Then we wound up raising our grandson. That took most of our free time. I'd stay home n house n pet sit while her n the kids went on vacation. My last vacation was late 90's. Did take 4day fishing trip before covid. Brody will be 21 nx Tuesday. Told Bug I need some me time. Probably won't hunt anymore. Don't know if I could drag a deer very far. Had a place where I could drive to a deer but no longer. I call her when I get somewhere n when I'm heading home. I wear my pfd when I'm on the water. Do it for her. I need to get out a few times before ice up. 👍👍

I hope you get out. By the way, wear that PDF because it s the smart thing smart thing to do. And make sure everyone else does the same or take them back to shore. The civil courts don't care about the dead guy. They go after the boat captain or owner. Life can change in a split second.
