I'll have to google the area. Are you cartopping the Crawdad, or putting it in the back of a Pickup? They're a fun little boat.

The old Rt 8 is blocked off until they lower the lake enough that you can safely drive on it Fishyaker. On our end it starts at the ramp parking lot, and on the Massachusetts end it joins the new 8 at a gated entrance. This is a Corps of Engineers lake, and they adjust the level to keep the Farmington River flowing steady. It's one of our best Trout rivers.
The 2 spots I posted pictures of the road, are both ends of a hill on the old road. Today there's a cove on either side, and I caught at least 1 or 2 fish on each side.

Hey ur getting out exploring and catchin good job! That’s pretty cool how that old rt 8 works with the water level. Notice your minnkota remote around ur neck, been meaning to ask: do you use Spot lock and I-pilot? Just wondering, I have a Terrova with those features still figuring it out, Lol
I fish with wind and current sometimes both. It’s a Given on the Missouri.

Hey Bric, unfortunately when I bought my Powerdrive motor, the cheapskate in me took over. I bought the cheaper model with NO GPS receiver. I did add the copilot remote after the 1st season using only the foot control.
Every windy day (there's been a lot so far) I kick myself in the butt for not buying the I- pilot model .
I'm going to sell both my boats when I retire, and move. The next boat will have an Ulterra on the bow, and Talons on the transom.
Sorry I can't give you any advice, but I'm jealous that you have it.

No worries just wondering. Mine came with foot control and remote. There you go upgrade all the way for retirement. Planning on SC still? Then you and Gordon will both be there.

That's the plan, near Lake Marion now, was closer to the coast but plans change. Closer to Gordon than the original plan which was Murrells Inlet.
Yeah I figure it's going to be the last boat I buy, might as well get everything I want. I may not buy brand new, but I can refit any equipment I want to add.

Thanks OJ, I'll definitely get back up there and explore some more. It's a Bass management lake with a 16"minimum, so I know there's big fish in there. Just have to learn more of the terrain.

Cool, I was just looking at google maps. Murrells Inlet looks nice. I have been by Lake Marion, been to SC once on a work assignment few years back. Spent time between Charleston and Sumter doing some prescribed burning on military bases. And I bet you can refit about anything with all your boat experience.

Yeah Bric, there's a lot of nice places in the state, and we've got friends in a few of them, with more heading south all the time.
Hopefully I'll be able to find something equipped the way I'd like it, and only have to do a couple updates, or upgrades.
Everything in retirement is money related. We'll have enough to live comfortably, but not enough to waste. I was never one looking to impress others with fancy stuff.
I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah I liked it there, Charleston was really nice to visit. Good you’ll have some friends around. I’m sure you will find a boat for your needs. I understand about retirement, and you deserve it. I have relatives in NC but have not been there in 40 yrs. My wife needs to finish off visiting all 50 states and the Carolinas are the last besides Alaska. So need to plan a visit sometime in the future.

Thanks Jwid, yeah they are fun to catch, especially on a lighter rod. Got them all on my "finesse rod " which is just a medium /fast Spinning rod with 8lb test. I thought every one was bigger than they turned out to be. I'll be back to look for the big ones sooner or later. They start the year at full level, and depending on rainfall amounts, let some out to maintain river levels.
