Yeah I liked it there, Charleston was really nice to visit. Good you’ll have some friends around. I’m sure you will find a boat for your needs. I understand about retirement, and you deserve it. I have relatives in NC but have not been there in 40 yrs. My wife needs to finish off visiting all 50 states and the Carolinas are the last besides Alaska. So need to plan a visit sometime in the future.

Well if I get there before you, we'll have to get together and wet some lines.

Back from Colebrook River Lake on the Massachusetts border. Lake level lower than I expected, about 10'-12' below full pool. Wind was blowing right down the chute most of the day, once again making boat positioning tough. Hooked 11 little Smallmouth, 8 in the boat and 3 professional release,LOL all a pound or less. Somewhat disappointing, but for a first time,a learning experience.
I did accomplish one goal. I caught Bass ON Route 8! That's a state highway that runs from Bridgeport Ct, north thru Massachusetts. Well technically it was "Old Rt.8", which was relocated when the lake was built, but on Rt 8 none the less.
Back from Colebrook River Lake on the Massachusett... (show quote)

I’ll take your 8 any day. Lol. And there’s a pond in the middle of your road. 😂🤣

Thanks Jwid, yeah they are fun to catch, especially on a lighter rod. Got them all on my "finesse rod " which is just a medium /fast Spinning rod with 8lb test. I thought every one was bigger than they turned out to be. I'll be back to look for the big ones sooner or later. They start the year at full level, and depending on rainfall amounts, let some out to maintain river levels.

What bait and weight do you use? I just started a finesse setup. 6’6” medium fast with a bc reel. Caught this rock bass first fish. They have some fight in them also.

I've been throwing a Yum Dinger on a Trokar Magworm 3/0or 4/0, unweighted, mostly Watermelon/Red flake, sometimes a darker color. Also a Powerbait MaxScent General Wacky rigged, either Green Pumpkin Candy, or Junebug. If I find them holding deep,I'll try a drop shot rig with a Strike King Dreamshot, or Halfshell.
I also like throwing a unweighted Powerbait JerkShad on a Trokar Magworm Swimbait hook.
