I have a waterproof license holder with a neck lanyard. In Virginia they allow us to us our smartphone DGIF app to show proof of license. Since I fish multiple states and Canada I keep all my licenses in the waterproof case mention above. In Canada you have to have both a Canadian Outdoor Sportman Card plus the appropriate provincial (i.e., state) fishing license both must be externally displayed so my case with lanyard is the perfect solution.
I used to keep mine in my wallet but now they're more like receipts instead of cards. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I'm from California so we have to carry it on our person whenever we're fishing.

I have both my fishing Lic and my hunting Lic as well as All tags and permits and validations like upland bird All on my IPhone. And have to Validate tags also on my phone. Can get paper/ticker tape Lic& tags also but if you start one you have to stay with that format All that year.
Game officer came by where I was fishing and to ask if I was doing any good. After some chitchat I asked if he wanted to see my fishing license and he said no. You old guys always have your stuff in order and he doesn't worry about it.
