Larry, not to drag this post on forever, but I ran across this list of dangerous ugly fish. Checkout the little minnow looking fish. This one will make you think twice before you wade fish again.

Well, then ! If we're gonna show some nasty-looking, dangerous critters, here's one that could give you nightmares ! Yes ! That IS Jeremy Wade from the TV series
'River Monsters', holding a goliath tigerfish; the biggest have been known to grow to 6 feet and
weigh up to 150 pounds ! They
are predominantly found in the CONGO and ZAMBEZI rivers in Africa; so, anyone care to go
swimming with this demon
fish ? I know I'LL pass !

It's called a "sarcastic fringehead". I am not kidding. Males have huge mouths because they fight each other.

It looks like a full grown sized version of a lizardfish....we get smaller versions of them in the Malibu and Paradise Cove areas in California....

I have always heard with ocean fish: The uglier they are, the better they are to eat. I'd try it if I caught one.

Look how ugly a Cabasone is, yet its one of the best tasting fish in the sea. Trying to fillet one is an interesting procedure. Catch them in the rocky areas along with lingcod.

What’s really fascinating about a cabezon is not only how good they taste, but also their blue meat!!

Much like he green meat on a lingcod. Cooks up whiter than a white meat lingcod.
