The brown trees and the rainbow bushes are really bad when fly fishing too.

Thanks GW, just gonna try and relax, and stay somewhat dry. Fog and showers in the forecast. Should keep the water skiers and Jetskis off the lake anyway.

Hello again. Fun to ID and tell stories about lures. These I believe are Rattletraps by Bill Lewis Lure Co. Cordell spots are similar but don't have the little fin on top. This type of lure is called a lipless crank bait by bassers. Depending on your retrieve speed they usually run between 2-5 feet deep and the "BBs" inside draw the fish through sound/vibrations. Earlier shad-shaped lures, e.g., Bayou Boogie and Heddon Sonic did not contain the "BBs". Several other lure manufacturers have copied the Spot design with their own improvement e.g., Red-eyed Shad. I have caught many largemouth bass and striped bass with this lure and Cordell Spots. They work really well in stained and cloudy water where the fish strike on vibrations/sound rather than by sight.

Thats it,I'm going out for a couple hours tomorrow. I just rigged up the rods, and I tied on a Rattle Trap. I have just the spot in mind, that it should work. Tied on a few others that I haven't used in a long time,or ever. We shall see how it goes.

Let us know how it goes. RTKF

Rattle Traps. Have caught tons of Large mouth Bass on them. In Texas spring time they throw red. Sunny days I throw blue and chrome. Best to reteive with a with a stop and go method like a dying shad.

What are these guys,do you have one, what’s a good color and what have you caught on it.

Look like rattle traps. I think they have ball bearings in them that rattle around when you retrieve them. I have a silver one. Never caught anything with it.

Fisherman's Log 5/28/20 Forecast :Fog and scattered showers, 5-10 out of SW. Up at 7,misting,no fog. By the time I finished my coffee it's pouring. Wait 1.5hr to uncover boat. Get to lake at 10. Blowing 10-15. Made 2 passes up and down the 100 yard drop off throwing silver/blue holographic Rattle Trap. Not a sniff. Go around to lee side of Island, throw it some more, nothing. Head for rocky point. 7 Rock Bass, and 2 Pike, one 4.5lbs,one 2lbs. No sign of Smallmouth. Got all So far on a Powerbait General wacky rigged. Pull into cove to eat my sandwich, started raining harder. Worked lee side of Island again, with White and red Bleeding Buzz Bait. Got 1 Largemouth 1.8lbs. Went back around to drop off, wind blowing 20+. Made 1 pass with Rattle Trap, nothing. Called it a day.(Then spent 35minutes trying to get boat on trailer in whitecaps.) Final score 10 fish, not a bite on Rattle Trap today.

Wow Fred, those are nice fish. Did you keep any? You had to work hard enough for them. Hope next time it's easier and more fish.

No released them all. The only thing that I usually keep is trout or salmon. And that's only if I bring my fish cooler with me. I only bring it when I'm actually targeting them.

I just wish we could get into a normal spring /summer weather pattern. This year has sucked so far on this coast.
