What are these guys,do you have one, what’s a good color and what have you caught on it.

They are rattle traps and they are great for strippers and small mouth in my area. I have used them all the way up to 3/4 ounce size. I also have a micro size that I use for pan fish.

bapabear you are probably right on the money. That's the drawback of having "More lures than Wal-Mart " as discussed in another thread. Approximately 60% of the stuff in my box has never caught a fish. And probably 30%has never been wet LOL.You see some of the pros on tv catching with them and say, gotta get me some of those! The problem is,they spend a week scouting a location to shoot an episode. We don't have the time to find perfect conditions for each type of presentation. Too weedy, too shallow, too deep, too windy, BUT we've got them if we need them.HaHaHa. When I finally retire, and have more time, I would like to try just concentrating on one type of lure. Spent an entire day only throwing a square bill, or a rattle trap, or a jig, and give each type a workout. Of course that means only bringing 1 rod with me. That would probably be the hardest part.
bapabear you are probably right on the money. That... (show quote)

I have tried that. Result: If I take a jig the fish will be blowing the surface apart. If I take a floater, my partner is killing fish with a chatter bait. Actually, it is the challenge that makes it fun.

Thats it,I'm going out for a couple hours tomorrow. I just rigged up the rods, and I tied on a Rattle Trap. I have just the spot in mind, that it should work. Tied on a few others that I haven't used in a long time,or ever. We shall see how it goes.

Maybe he's just going out after a little. When he was a manager of a hotel a guest came up to the desk and asked the desk clerk," Is the manager in?" "No the manager's out!" "Will he be back after a little?" "No, that's what he went out after!" Maybe Fred is just reverting.....

I'm going back up to Bantam Lake, where I was Friday and Saturday. The weather is supposed to be fair at best, and Bantam is close. The Rattle Trap is for the drop off I got the Largemouth on at the end of the day Saturday. If it doesn't work out,I'll be back on the rocky point hunting Smallmouth.

Flat side crank baits. Rattle Traps make noise but they also make silent runners. Great for fishing grass. Let 'em sink, rip 'em out of the grass, yo-yo retrieve whatever. Use perch colors, craw colors (red/orange with black stripes, shad colors).Great for LM bass or anything around grass. I always have one tied on.

I catch weeds with mine. But that isn't a big thing. I catch weeds on weedless spoons too.

Yeah but they're much easier to land than tree bass or boulder bass. They just eat my lures.
