Get the boat dude.No worries. Many adventures down the road.
Not a spokesperson for Berkeley but their Gulp night crawlers or red wrigglers work great. But nothing usually beats live bait.I’d try them all.You can probably use a small net to catch bait fish to see what’s in that fishery.
Lucky you weren’t the third rod & reel lost.I say the first person lost it trolling on a snag. The second person lost it on the snag of the first reel & you snagged them both.Unfortunately,it probably will happen again.Watched loose drags are important.
You can use any multi piece fly fishing rod.The action will be affected by how many pieces though.I have a few back pack rods for different situations.Learn to cast with all different rods before you venture out or pay the price with wasted time.Sensitivity is sacrificed with each added section.
Fish but don’t eat them.Maybe up stream where the water is clearer.Where is this place & what is it called?
Can’t you drive on the beach in NJ?I live on the left coast & there are very few places to drive on the beach here. You can probably take anything you need in a vehicle. But if that isn’t the answer, wagons work well. They float too if equipped right.Im getting too old to walk long, steep trails.El Moro or Crystal cove are my go to,easy access.Hey !by the way;if you like surf fishing;they hold a tournament every July at Sharp Park State Beach,Pacifica,Calif.Went last year with friends & it was awesome.
