There are a dozen different species to go after. Which are you looking for? Trout up north, bass and walleye south, crappie spread throughout.

Spent some time at Caballo, Rio Grande, and Elephant Butte yesterday. At Elephant Butte we saw a few what looked like good sized smallies or walleye down the bank to the right of the marina. We pretty much threw the book at them but nothing artificial enticed them to do anything but follow the lures.

Nice fish, but wow the water is way down. Love the stripper fishing there. If you are lucky, there are walleye there too.
