What kind of fish are you going for? Trout are good in Eagle Nest , Sugarite state park and other northern New Mexico water, musky in blue water state park. Walleye are good at Ute lake and other warm water lakes. I caught white crappie at Ute and black crappie in Lake Sumner.

Depends what part of NM you're in. SE part you have Brantley the Pecos river Black river. Then most municipal have stocked ponds to fish like Green meadows, chapperal lake, eunice, jal Carlsbad

Depends on what you like to fish for. I live in the southern part of the state and can give you my two cents if you plan to be around here.

There are a dozen different species to go after. Which are you looking for? Trout up north, bass and walleye south, crappie spread throughout.

The San Juan in NW corner is world famous for big trout and a lot of them. The Pecos River has great scenery and good fishing. Easy to get to the spots. Chama River and the Brazos River near the town of Chama has very good fishing, also for trout.
