Good morning stagers all. Got back from spring fishing at Lake Powell yesterday. For this old man it was memorable. The most eerie and unbelievable landscape I’ve ever seen coupled with the largest body of water I have ever been on and I even managed to catch a few fish. What a joy!! Jim Sargent and I fished three days last week We boated 35 on Sunday and kept 15. Only boated 12 or so on Tuesday and kept 5 then Friday we boated around 23 and kept 14. All in all a good fish. My freezer is restocked and Smallmouth bass are beginning to replace Rainbow trout as my favorite fish to catch. The jury is still out, maybe my October trip will put the icing on the cake. Jim caught more fish than I as he used a variety of baits and methods while I stuck with a 4” grub on a 1/4 Oz. jig head that seemed to work pretty well for me. No record breakers or even new personal bests just good fishing, good company, and unequaled scenery. The pictures don’t seem to want to download. I will try them in another thread.😁
No picture can capture the immensity and grandeur of the place. Our catches were nothing to rival the smallies that Ivey and others of you post but lots of good clean fun! I forgot that you can’t have two topics in the new section at the same time. The story is in newest topics.
Wulffy those are some real pretty pics. Looks like the lake is a looonnnggg way from full. Glad to see you had a successful trip.
Glad you had a great time. That water looks very clear.

Great pictures Wulffy, that would take me some getting used to fishing where there's no vegetation at all.

the water is very clear thanks in part to an invasion of Quagga mussels. It is a beautiful lake tho…

Nice looking smallies Wulffy! Sounds like y'all had a great time! Did you happen to notice what the smallmouth forage was? I'm assuming there's also submerged vegetation.

That's breathtaking landscape out there Mike. I imagine that's what it's like Bass fishing on Mars, LOL. Beautiful pictures and nice Smallies. (Hi Jim). Thanks for sharing buddy.

Lake Powell is really beautiful when you get back in some of the canyons with shear walls going straight up. Looks like the water level is still down Wulffie. Thanks for sharing, brings back memories of our house boating days with the ski boat.
Great summary and photos to compliment your fishing trip! I like the scenery and your bass are pleasing to the eye as well! Glad you had nice weather and success awaiting end of your lines!
