Hi Chindi- what bait were you using? How were the conditions ?
Going today to try and catch something. Anyone else fishing Jekyll Island today or tomorrow?
Went Friday , August 12, fishing the pier on Jekyll and nobody was catching. I had2 hits but broke off each time. One guy said the week was slow, only got one keeper flounder.
I miss New Hampshire and those white mountains!
Hi Mike,
I’m in Port Saint Lucie and fish the Indian River, Surf Fish Hutchison Island and freshwater fish where I can. I shore fish mostly. Pompanos are being caught in the surf now. I’ve also fished in Stuart and Fort Pierce. I am always looking for new locations to saltwater and freshwater fish and looking for that slot snook! I also fly fish and tie my own flies. I haven’t fished in Jupiter, but that’s on my list.
It’s a matter of choice. Started using baitcasters a few years ago and now it’s my go to setup for freshwater and inshore saltwater. I still use spinning for surf fishing.
I’m new to the treasure coast too. I fish Indian River in Port St. Lucie and Jensen beach. I caught catfish and drum on fish bites. I caught bluefish and mackerel on silver/black paddle tails with jig heads. I know they catch snook off the Sebastian pier with shrimp or minnows. If you surf fish then pompano from the beach using fish bites or sand fleas.
You have to match the hatch. I’m not sure where you are fishing but that’s the only way to get them to bite on a fly. You said they are down on bottom without surfacing so try nymphs.
I still have mine, 40+ years, it’s a tank! Still use it as a backup reel.

Try Cabala. Go online
Did you mean Cabela? The store?
Anyone ever fish the Provo River, Utah? I will be heading to Park City in 2 weeks and will be fly fishing. Any suggestions on the “hatch” at that time of year? Any recommendations on where to fish, best time of day, best flies to use, etc, etc. would be helpful. I will also have my spinning gear with me. I have been to Park City before but never fished the area.
Also any preferred color lenses for when fishing?
I wear glasses. Do any of you know of a good pair of sunglasses to go over the glasses for fishing?
