My nephew took over our parents house after my Mom passed away in 2019. This is where I lived for the first 30 years of my life. He caught this catfish today. They dredged the cove probably 20-30 years ago and the fishing has been pretty good and there’s species there I don’t remember catching when I lived there. I’m going to try to get there this week some time.

There’s a small pond at Forest Hill Park on Rt23. It’s stocked during the Spring stocking season. I’ve fished some years ago at Grey’s Run on Rt40 just prior to Aberdeen. It’s not a pond, but it draws lots of anglers during the Spring crappie run. There’s also a pond in Perryman in a small park on Country Club Road. It’s full of turtles, but I‘ve never had much luck there. There’s a boat ramp in Edgewood. It’s at the end of Willobybeach Road. Turn right on Kennard Road and the park is next to the Amtrak bridge over the Bush River. I go there several times a week to hang out and watch the trains while I eat junk food. In Joppatown, there’s Mariner Park. My brother has fished there. I’m severely handicapped these days and I’m not doing any fishing myself. I’m going to get a license soon and give it a go this year. I’m originally from the Sparrows Point area and lived my whole life on Bear Creek. I’ve been in Harford County for 33 years. I miss my boats and the Bay.

I drove through Loch Raven yesterday and it’s been years since I’ve seen that much flow over the dam. The Gunpowder River below the dam was full and flowing harder than I have seen in years. The Fishing Center is closed during the weekdays, but I’m sure the water was high there. Hopefully, there won’t be much damage from all of the rain we’ve had the past two weekends.

Andy, you really make me hungry when you post pictures of your lunches at The Suicide Bridge restaurant. I haven’t been down on the shore lately, but one of these days, I’m going to make that trip. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll see you there.

Thanks for the video Gordon. Nature is amazing and I can watch it every day. I appreciate your pictures and videos that you post. I watch a couple hours of nature shows every Saturday morning. Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom is back on TV. I used to love watching Marlon Perkins and Jim Fowler.

Go for it Andy. The fun and enjoyment of it is being there to see what happens. I wish you luck my friend and I hope to see that Green Bucket full of nice fat fall perch.

Tough decision Andy, but that plate of food looks awful tempting. Why expose yourself to the elements, when the meal is already caught. Have a great day,no matter what you decide.

I checked the license requirements for there and if you’re on a boat, either a Pennsylvania or Maryland license is ok, because the state border is hard to determine. Fishing from shore requires a license for the state you’re fishing in.

Here in Maryland, regular was $3.89 yesterday. I went to BJ’s and it was $3.60. The end of 2020, gas was $2.09. Something changed. I wonder what that might have been!

Back in the 60’s, my neighbor and I would crab on the Patapsco River, next to where the Key Bridge now stands. We would run a 300 foot trot line and we would catch a bushel of keepers in a few hours. It was great fun for a couple of kids around 10-12 years old. I often think about how much fun it was to grow up around the Chesapeake Bay.

I have purchased 5 gallon buckets from a snow ball stand in the past. They get their marshmallow topping in these buckets and the stand where I used to go would sell them for $1.00 each. I need a couple of buckets, so I’ll have to check and see if they still sell them.

Keep the reports coming Andy. I look forward to them first thing in my morning. I can’t get around good anymore, and I enjoy seeing you with your morning catch. My cousin, who you worked with, Larry Vance, would catch tons of perch every Spring and him and his brother-in-law would host a fish fry for our Church as a fund raiser. Us former Shipyard guys need to stick together and can’t be bullied by some hurray for me know it all that thinks their opinion matters. I’m sure the folks that you supply with fish appreciate your generosity.

Those are some nice rockfish Andy. I remember the days when there was no limit on them. Too bad people had to over fish and nearly eliminate them. Those and bluefish were fun to catch. I miss my days out on the Chesapeake Bay. It’s good to see you’re still getting out to fish. I really miss it and I enjoy seeing your posts.

I drove over the dam yesterday and I noticed that the Cormorants have started to move in. The last few years, when they show up, the Eagles disappear. They wouldn’t be there unless the water below the dam is loaded up with fish. The vultures will damage you vehicle. Once, they pulled the whole gasket from around a guy’s windshield while he was there fishing. I drive over the dam at least once or twice a week to eat at the Spready Oak restaurant that’s about 2-3 miles north of there.

Nice 👍

I used to use the larger Tony for trolling in the Chesapeake Bay. It was back in the 70’s. I’m getting a little senile in my advanced age, but I think we used to attach a 12” length surgical tubing to it. It was good for Rock(stripers) and Blues.
