The intake for both canals are roughly 10 miles NW of Tracy near the SW corner of the Delta.

I've only been to the Welty Gate (see map below). Welty crosses Hwy 132.

Drifted cut anchovies on the bottom just below the gate -- caught one striper and one cat the only time I've been this year. Done well there almost every time I've been there.

Hey everyone. Got to Texas yesterday and went in to see my Mom and surprised her while she was eatin dinner. She knew I was comin here but she didn't know I was here yet.
The look on her face was priceless. You're really here... You're finally here. Look.
I'm SO blessed to still have her here. Even though I know how she must feel that she's just tired of bein here and she would really like for the Lord to call her home.
It will happen at her appointed time as it will for all of us.
Until then, I'll treasure every day I have to spend with her.
I'll be leavin shortly to go have lunch with her. Later guys.

Great catches, Matt!
I love Vaqueros for trout and striper fishing. The only thing I do not like is that I cannot take my kayak out on the water there. I always catch my limit of trout and stripers there. The other thing I like about Vaqueros is the fish taste better from there because that water is a lot cleaner than the Delta or other waterways that are fed by irrigation dump off.

Most of the stripers in Vaqueros are transplants from Clifton Forebay (moved when the algae level gets toxic). They're also moved to Bethany Reservoir.

Nope -- only rental electrics. I don't know about kayaks but I've never seen any.

Did DF&W ever say how many Whale deaths are caused by trap lines in that area?

Not that I've seen but I haven't really looked.

No on the cartoons.

Yes, on the Shetland -- I also remember a donkey painted like a zebra.

Exert from today's newsletter...
"...effective at 6:00 p.m. on April 8, 2024....
A recreational crab trap prohibition is being implemented in Fishing Zones 3, 4 and 5 (Sonoma/Mendocino county line to Point Conception). CDFW reminds recreational crabbers that take of Dungeness crab by other methods (including hoop nets and crab snares) is allowed through the close of the season..."

There's also a lot of updates on the commercial regulations.

I really like the CDFW Newsletter (comes as an email--usually only 1 or 2 a month). Makes it easier to keep up with the reg changes especially with all of the closures.

There is a spot at the bottom of the page if you want to sign up.

I can't give you any 1st-hand advice about Folsom but I've had good luck using Fish-n-Maps when I can't get any local info (hopefully you will)...
