United States lightship Columbia (WLV-604)

Commissioned in 1951, Columbia was the fourth and final lightship stationed at the mouth of the Columbia River. Built by Rice Brothers Shipyard in Boothbay, Maine, Columbia was launched with her sister-ship, Relief (WLV-605). The new WLV-604 replaced the aging vessel LV-93, which had been in service on the Columbia River since 1939. From 1892 until 1979, the Columbia River lightships guided vessels across the Columbia River Bar and an area known as the Graveyard of the Pacific. Columbia was the final lightship to be decommissioned on the U.S. West coast. She was replaced by an automated navigational buoy soon after. The buoy has since been retired

Hello stagers.
While in Detroit working the NFL Draf l took a nasty fall and chipped one ead of my Humorous,. The upper arm bone. The chip isn't severe enough to warrant any kind of treatment and will heal on its own, with a noticeable bump just under the elbow.
No cast
No sling, but I have to make sure that I don't hit it again and complete the fracture.
It hurts like wadden. Dr said to go ahead and use it, but any numbness or tingling to come in right away.
So dear friends I'm going to lay low for awhile.
I'll be back very soon.

Good morning folks, its Thirsty Thursday once again! ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿป

What a beautiful day ahead. It's 60ยฐ now and looking to reach 80ยฐ and sunshine. These are the days we've been waiting for!

While I should be playing hookie and going fishing today, I'll be hanging on a ladder running refrigerant linesets and wiring condensing units.. Yippee!!

Memories

Three elderly ladies sit in a diner, discussing their health. One lady says, "You know, I'm getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn't remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down."

The second lady says, "You think that's bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I couldn't remember whether I was going to sleep or had just woken up!"

The third lady smiles smugly. "Well, my memory is just as good as it's always been, knock on wood," she says as she raps on the table. Then with a startled look on her face, she asks, "Who's there?"

Have a great day folks!! ๐Ÿป

Hello!
Indeed I am relocating to NY and anxious to discover fly fishers, fresh or salted and learn the locale and techniques of my new home. (Oh yeah, it was the grandkids that precipitated this swimming upstream.). In return I can guide you to Michigan waters and even regale you with angling experiences of Montana, Mexico, Scotland and Italy and some more.
Been fly fishing and tying for 40+ years and do a lot of flotubing for wam water fish. These days I am eager to fish new waters here and afar, on streams and saltwater shores.
Looking forward to hearing back and becoming acquainted.

I grew up in Westchester and guided in Westchester, Putnam and the surrounding areas.
First thing, get your NYC Reservoir permit. That opens up hundreds of miles of shore line fishing. The reservoirs and connecting streams are all full of trout and bass . Once you get familiar with the reservoirs youโ€™ll want a boat. Row boats and ONLY row boats are allowed so donโ€™t think about big $ on a boat. The hard part will be deciding which reservoir(s) you want to put a boat on.
I suggest you ask Lucy at Bobs tackle shop at โ€˜Whitehall Corners.
Itโ€™s more of a pet food store these days but it has always been the best place to get bait and information.

Very appropriate in these trying times on our college campuses and a reminder
to those meat-head students that they live in America and not in a third world country.

Went fishing in Manasquan Inlet this afternoon on a cold, sunny day with a norโ€™easter small craft advisory and incoming tide. Ocean was very rough with no surfers. Few boats were on the water and few fishermen were on the jetty. Two spear fishermen shot 3 blackfish and a striped bass. Oystercatchers, osprey, loons, cormorants and gulls were nearby. A seal pup was sleeping on the beach when I arrived and still there when I left. I reported it to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, NJ. Caught, tagged and released 2 30โ€ bluefish to 9 lbs with a very old #2 stainless steel Japanese metal squid during the early bite. Many big blues were caught over the fence. I took lots of photos.
