Hello!
Indeed I am relocating to NY and anxious to discover fly fishers, fresh or salted and learn the locale and techniques of my new home. (Oh yeah, it was the grandkids that precipitated this swimming upstream.). In return I can guide you to Michigan waters and even regale you with angling experiences of Montana, Mexico, Scotland and Italy and some more.
Been fly fishing and tying for 40+ years and do a lot of flotubing for wam water fish. These days I am eager to fish new waters here and afar, on streams and saltwater shores.
Looking forward to hearing back and becoming acquainted.

I grew up in Westchester and guided in Westchester, Putnam and the surrounding areas.
First thing, get your NYC Reservoir permit. That opens up hundreds of miles of shore line fishing. The reservoirs and connecting streams are all full of trout and bass . Once you get familiar with the reservoirs you’ll want a boat. Row boats and ONLY row boats are allowed so don’t think about big $ on a boat. The hard part will be deciding which reservoir(s) you want to put a boat on.
I suggest you ask Lucy at Bobs tackle shop at ‘Whitehall Corners.
It’s more of a pet food store these days but it has always been the best place to get bait and information.
Hey Big Dog, Thanks for the tips.
What can you tell me about float tubes ie belly boat” use. I see stuff about steam cleaning etc. I of need to follow up with call to NY DNR
