How are they biting. What bait?

Happyfisher,

Here is the latest fishing report.

Texoma Fishing Report
Jul 5, 2023
GOOD. Water stained; 85 degrees; 0.08 feet below pool. Striped bass continue to bite well in the summer pattern. Box fish are on flats in 30 feet or using swimbaits under working rafts of threadfin shad. Bigger stripers are good with topwater action in the morning, and some in big schools in deeper water using slabs. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors. Striped bass are great fishing live bait, slabs and topwaters. Look for schooling fish hitting the surface under birds or in the backs of the coves down the rocky banks. The stripers are moving fast and staying above the thermocline to feed. Crappie are fair on jigs and dead minnows. Fishing planted brush in the little mineral arm 12-15 feet of water. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared baits in 15-25 feet of water drifting the bait along the bottom and reel up. Largemouth and smallmouth are slow along the bluffs fishing live bait and topwaters. Small/fast moving bait presentations. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma Guaranteed Guide Service.

Eliminate "victimology" and "entitlement". We should all work for what we want and not expect others to give it to us. A good, strong work ethic is definitely desired in all. We are fortunate to have been born in America and should respect what Americans have done for the world.

GREAT. Water stained; 74 degrees; 9.76 feet below pool. Crappie are good on brush piles in 10-18 feet of water. The lakes are slowly coming up while it has not affected the bite, you will need to use dark water colors in the muddy water. If that does not put them in the boat, throw minnow. A favorite Snacky Lures color is snacky flash for everyday use, or black/chartreuse with the muddy water in the size FS200 on a EyeHole jig head in 1/16th ounce. Report by Robert Stover, Workingman Crappie Guide.

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 1.94 feet below pool. Hopefully the rain runoff will bring the lake levels up. Granbury water temperatures are around the 70 degree mark and rising. White bass and small striper action is good near Indian Harbor on slabs and live bait. Bigger striped bass to 11 pounds are located on the lower ends and are best on large live bait. Largemouth bass numbers continue to be good with an occasional fish to eight pounds being caught. Best action for largemouth is in the backs of major creeks and near main lake points. Big blue and yellow catfish continue to be caught on cut bait fished on the upper ends near Hunter Park. Best Crappie reports are coming from deeper docks on minnows and jigs. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters. Striper continue to be good throughout the reservoir along channel ledges and near flats using swimbaits, umbrella-rigs and live bait. Report provided by Kraig Sexton, Sexton's Guide Service LLC, Fishing Charter, Marine Electronics & Whitney. Catfish are scattered, smaller fish can be found on windblown points and rocky banks. Report by Jeffery Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing LLC.

GOOD. Water clear; 70-75 degrees; 5.64 feet below pool. Striper fishing is on fire. Live bait is the go-to bait. Some can be caught using artificial but live bait is definitely the best. Look for them in 20-40 feet of water. Sand bass are fair shallow early in the morning and deeper throughout the day. Casting small slabs and rattletraps in white, chrome, and chartreuse. Look for them in 2-15 feet in the morning and move out to 20-30 feet during the day. Catfish are fair on cut shad suspended and on bottom in 20-30 feet of water. Clarity is in 4-15 feet depending on location. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service. Limits of striped bass are good mid lake from the dam to Hogs Bend. Largemouth bass are good to excellent from Broadway to the Peanut Patch working the back of the creeks feeding these areas. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters.

Here is the latest fishing report for Lake Belton.
https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/action/reptform2.php?Submit=View+Report&archive=latest&lake=allFresh&utm_campaign=govdelivery-email&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery&water=Freshwater&yearcat=2021

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 14.28 feet below pool. Morning white bass fishing is very good and will continue to improve as the water warms. A full 3.5-4.5 hour bite is taking place most mornings. Afternoon fishing has been consolidated into the last 2-2.5 hours before sunset. This past week was the first time we've seen water at or above 58 degrees at depths down to 45 feet and this has caused shad to begin using the bottom for both feeding and traveling, and has brought on the very first of the threadfin shad spawn. A marked change in fish activity levels is taking place this week. Whereas last week we had large schools of fish unwilling to leave bottom, this week most every school of fish has expressed some interest and followed the lures presented up off bottom and through the water column. The MAL Heavy Lure with chartreuse tail is a go-to lure for both vertical "smoking", and for use with a count-down method for fish aggressively pushing bait to the surface. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service. Catfish are great and the bite has intensified as the water warms. Smaller blues and trophy size can be caught in 2-10 feet using live bait as well as fresh cut bait. Flatheads have been caught near shorelines with live perch and shad. Channel catfish have been great in shallow water around timber using punch bait. Report by Brian Worley, B&S Catfishing. Crappie are on fire in 1-3 feet of water. Some fish are in 8-15 feet of water. Report by Zach Minnix, JigNJerk Guide Service.

Here is the latest fishing report for Lake Belton: Crappie are fair in the deeper waters, but they are starting to make a move shallow biting jigs with slick bait or an ATX lure company 2.25 wicked shad. The full report is below.

Belton Fishing Report
Mar 8, 2023
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 58 degrees; 13.96 feet below pool. A full 9-day warming trend has white bass catch rates steadily increasing with fish feeding more frequently, more aggressively, and in shallower water than just a week or two ago. The morning bite is longer and stronger than the afternoon bite. The white, ⅝ ounce Bladed Hazy Eye Slab is still the top producer for both bottom-oriented fish and large, wandering suspended schools of pre-spawn white bass, although we should see a definitive shift to interest in the MAL Lure, more flash, more bulk, more vibration, once the water temperature hits 60 degrees. Helpful bird activity is still existent, but unpredictable. Well-tuned side-imaging is still the best search tool.

Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service. Catfish have been excellent. Fishing along shallow wind blown banks with cut bait has worked the best. Good numbers of eater size bluecats can also be caught drifting 10-25 feet. Flatheads have been good around structures under 10 feet using live perch. Report by Brian Worley, B&S Catfishing. Crappie are fair in the deeper waters, but they are starting to make a move shallow biting jigs with slick bait or an ATX lure company 2.25 wicked shad. Report by Zach Minnix, JigNJerk Guide Service.
