After my visit to the Y today, talking to some other Vets Army and Navy I walked my mile then went to pick up some groceries on my wife's list and then fill up the car. My little bit of groceries was $185.85 then I filled up my car with $4.09 9/10 gas at Costco. I feel sorry for those that have less then I do and struggle with these costs.

It’s my opinion that protesting doesn’t do any good at all, but why don’t people instead of protesting some of the things they do nowadays, protest the prices of everything right now? The prices are affecting everyone in the country the things that get protested affect only some.
Prices, pay, ease of making ends meet are not that great in our country right now.
I am fine now but wasn’t always,I don’t see how many of the young people starting out are able to see much hope especially when starting families and such.

As a kid I always seemed to have a job of some sort, it was a way of life. My 4 kids now in their mid 50's to 60 all had jobs with one family rule. You put half in the bank and not touch until you turned 18 and graduated high school thus have a nest egg. I don't know about kids or people now days.

A lot of kids these days are starting out at about $15 an hour which is almost as much as the maximum I’ve made in my life, and the minimum wage is still $7.25. After paying rent because they have no credit or savings to buy,
It doesn’t leave much left for food, gas or family, and you also want to have a life.
I’ve done good but not always, and have been blessed and my wife is really good with money, but not everyone can have it easy and it wasn’t always easy for me, had to learn the hard way many times

I feel your pain Kerry. So much fun when we spend that kind of money and than ask ourselves how many meals did I get for that $ 185? OUCH.

I don't like being the cynical one, but from what I see, the youngsters need to spend less on tatoos and alcohol and put some into savings. Except for my neighbors, 20-30 yrs olds sporting multiple tatoos. They aren't cheap!

I worked for A&P in mid to late 60’s. A grocery cart heaped with groceries was @ $25. That grocery list included everything. Married in 70 and wife and I spent @ $35 month for groceries, which included some ribeye with bone-in. I remember price changing at A&P. Before bar codes - tomato soup was 5c a can, might go to 6c. You’d drive across town to save a penny per gallon of gas, which equates to about 15c per fill up. Made $509 gross a month, $150 one week take home, second week $135 after health insurance. Paid all bills, rent, car payment, gasoline, etc and had some spending money. Ponderosa Steak house had family special on Tuesday evening, 99c, which included ribeye steak, baked potatoe, and roll. We didn’t buy disposable diapers either. People don’t seem to realize that when I get $15 minimum wage, after it trickles down , my money still doesn’t have any more buying power. Had more pocket money/buying power then than now. Our money is not worth anything now.

Big difference state to state. Cheaper in Texas just 8 miles away.
