Our Society Today vs. When We Were Kids

Watching the news this evening got me thinking. Our society has turned to shi$$. Flash mobs, shootings , out of control street racing in larger cities cheered on by teenagers on the streets. Why are these kids out instead of home? Protests, that again have youngsters out past curfew, and lead to adults looting and violence. Protesting peacefully is your right but causing property damage and stealing TV's is not. Our country is a mess and we're collectively better than this.

So I ask,
without getting political,
left or right,
black or white,

What do you think would help American people work together for the greater good of all of us?

I know I'm speaking to mostly older people here on the stage so what could be done to get younger parents to real in their kids and teach them right from wrong AT HOME?

How do we get this country working together as a whole again?
We used to be a proud country and respected in the world. We can be that again.

Again, if you choose to respond, no politics, no sides. Just citizens talking how we can make things better.

Maybe we'll all get elected to congress. We can vote ourselves a week fishing break every three months.

My honest opinion is the parents of the young folks you speak of weren’t raised correctly themselves. So how could the possibly know how to raise children. The only way to fix this country is through compromise and compassion. And they’re a SO little of that out there! Everyone’s more concerned with being right then doing what’s right! Owe and their pocket books. Money is always the deciding factor. JMO

consequences...there are no consequences for any thing anymore. shoot somebody, get out on bail, wait 20 years for your trial. for consequences to work they need to be applied immediately after the offense or they have no impact.
Just sayin (sorry RJ)

Consequences for bad behavior is a start. If I got in trouble at school I was afraid to go home because I would be in worse trouble at home.

Compromise and compassion instead of my way or the highway?

It's a good start.
Thanks

We need to vote most politicians out and start over!! These 2 political party’s can hardly ever get along and get together to agree on critical matters. I’ve been on this planet for 79 years and counting. I never liked politics and I never even registered to vote until Carter got us into a bad recession and voted for Ronnie twice and didn’t vote again until I voted against Trump after finding out what kind of person he had been most of his life. Biden was not the answer for the US. I hope someone will run that doesn’t have skeletons in their closets if there are anyone like that. This great country of ours is going to pot. Jan 6th was the worst thing I ever saw, what Trump did and didn’t do on that day. I’m independent and if I do vote I don’t a party, just who I hope will be the best if there is such a thing.

Start by stopping the revolving door at the courts. I think most of our generation tried to raise our kids right, that said some got it, some didn't and the ones that didn't raised their children accordingly. 😕 Just my humble opinion

Really difficult to not get political on this topic, but yes rip, I agree with you 150%! Applied immediately and enforced!

Agree with all above. Think time limits on cell phones for children would help and less violent music and video games. People don't realize how much of an effect music can have on mental well being.

When I go fishing, I don't want to hear a radio next to me, I want to hear the wind and water and the birds. Calm.

What a question. I have read the responses and agree over all with what is said. Respect for others, consequences for their actions, better parenting, and lets bring God back into the equation. I know bringing God into the discussion is not very popular these days but it seems to me things have gone down hill ever since we took him out of the classroom.

"You do not have to be religious to be a good, moral, respectful person" a quote for those who avoid religious groups [I do not avoid myself and learned most of my "lessons" from my parents who were ministers.]

Social media Ed. Too easy to organize people that have no idea how to entertain themselves.
Just go with the crowd.

It's been going down hill for several generations.
How many parents now are actually raising their kids.
They are in daycare before they're walking.
Then it's drop then off at a sporting event n have someone bring them home.
I saw so much of that when I was taking Brody to all of his activities.

Take everyones firearms n watch how home invasion go up.
I read about enough of them now.

No unity when we have so many groups that think their way is the only way.

I still remember how calm the country seemed for awhile after 9/11.
Now I don't believe it would have the same effect.
Hopefully we never find out. 👍👍
