Jim,
Good advice. I've seen lots of gators while fishing. Some of them have followed me, but so far none have attacked. However, I imagine they will be tempted most if I'm near their nest, or bring a fish to the kayak. I did see a video on YouTube of a big gator attacking a kayak and turning it over. Very scary for the owner. He was not harmed, but probably had to wash his shorts.
Hey Chuckay,
Thanks for the tip on Lake "O". I'll definitely give it a try. Where would you suggest I should launch and fish. My kayak is kinda heavy, so a reasonable launch site is always welcome.
I live in Miami and want to fish for bass from my kayak in lakes and impoundments located within 2-3 hours from me. I like to fly fish with poppers and also take along my spinning outfit. I would like to learn how to fish with the rubber worms, too.
Any advice will be appreciated.
PS- I fly fish locally for bonefish, wading in the ocean on the flats.
Thanks.
CaptJ,
How do you fish for the seatrout? I prefer to fly fish. What fly would you suggest?

Really enjoyed your presentation. Thoughtful and well done. We used to catch those Kokanee in Shasta Lake in N. California when I was a kid (1960's). They would also run up the Sacramento River in the early fall to spawn. Sometimes the whole stream would turn orange from their color. Your post brought back some fond memories.
Thanks.
Great stretch of the river. My grandfather and father fished there, too.
PNW,
I hope you had a good day. My brother says the fishing has been great there. He guides the Upper Sac, Scott, McCloud and Klamath rivers. I grew up fishing the Upper Sac. Where was the photo taken?
Thanks for sharing.
If you are interested in fly fishing for bonefish, I have information to share.
Larry B,
I fished the early morning tide last Saturday. The water temperature is usually 5 degrees lower than the rest of the day. Even so, I did not see even one bonefish. Usually, I'll see as many as a dozen in groups. So, I guess I'm done until the temperature drops again. Who knows when that will be? Heading to N. California to fish the upper Sacramento, the Scott and the Klamath river with my brother who is a guide there. We'll be nymph and dry fly fishing for trout.
Norman,
Thanks for the tip on the saltstrong.com site. Lot's of stuff there I can use. By the way, just one "l" in the email address.
Best
All,
Does anyone know at what temperature the Bonefist vacate the flats (high water temperature)? The water on Key Biscayne is 85+ right now.
Thanks

Love catching these Snook
Nice snookie, Mike. I caught one two weeks ago on a small crab tie while fly fishing from the beach for bonefish on Key Biscayne. It was about the same size as yours. Didn't have my camera with me.
What's the season and size limits?
I have caught a few on flies. They are also very slimy.
