There is not a week goes by that we do not have a birthday or two to celebrate. This week was Andy Cacciatori and myself. Speaking for me I want to convey my thanks to all of you who wished me well yesterday. Living alone the way I do made all your greetings special to me as they beat the lonelies far from me. Bless you all and thanks for your constant kindness. Graywulff/ Mike

Wishing you and Andy a sincere happy birthday wish…Hope you guys get to do something special to celebrate!! I may be a little late, but better late than never…hoping for the best for you guys…

I absolutely agree….some people have absolutely no class, much less etiquette… my friends and I were fishing at one of the pay for lakes here in CA for close to 3 hours, and each of us had the required 2 rods per paid participant….suddenly, this rowdy group of what’s best described as THUGS decided to fish “next” to us, playing loud music from their cars and smoking some “suspicious” cigarettes…I really tried to ignore our new neighbors, but that only seemed to embolden them …the next thing I know, one of these a-holes is throwing his line out BETWEEN my two rods, and placing a rod holder between my two rod holders…when I said “Do you mind? I am fishing in this spot, and you guys have the whole damn lake”…what happened next is even more unbelievable, he lifted up his sweatshirt to reveal a gun, as well as brandishing a smug smile across his face….we told the authorities, but of course nothing was done, and we demanded our money back…at least they were classy enough to give the four of us a free boat, which resulted in all of us limiting out….that’s really irrelevant, but can you imagine someone threatening your life over a fishing spot, while obviously being under the influence to boot?? Needless to say, my friends and I don’t even bother to fish from the shore at that lake anymore… besides that, I think it’s now closed…

Probably the ugliest car I can recall from my past would be the GREMLIN….even when they offered a high performance (??) version of it, the 400 HP version of it, it still wouldn’t sell, and it didn’t even come close to hiding its ugliness…

Good morning, Thanksgiving week, wishing you all a great one. I have so much to be thankful for . Yesterday my bro n law hit our sweet fishing spot. Sunny and some wind but it sure was fun. While fishing we saw the Marines setting up for a burial at sea. Marines run deep in our families. It was a great honor to stand with our fishing caps over our hearts to the tune of taps and folding of the flag 🇺🇸. He caught a few spotties and I caught a huge jacksmelt along with a puppy spottie. I believe it's the biggest smelt I've ever caught being over a pound . We got there around 630am on a low tide . I used a cable leader on big Bertha , tried catching what took my catch last weekend . Newport harbor is well known for huge rays and sharks , basically leopards . Nothing took my squid on the cable leader but once I changed my setup a puppy spottie took it. It's just not fun catching something small on heavy tackle . One big lesson I learn was to never cut squid with scissors in you palm , the funny part was that my bro n law and I had just finished talking about having a first aid kit in our tackle box , overall it was a nice day 🎣✌️🦃

Say brother, love your stories…which pier are you fishing in Newport Beach? My wife and I are retired, and we’re always looking for local places to fish and spend some “us” time together relaxing…catching fish is always a plus, but not a necessity….thank you brother….

It wasn’t that long ago a place like this was my place of worship on Sunday.

So many opinions on that topic on places of connecting with God.

What is yours?

Hi Plumbob…you know, he hears you no matter where you are, so wherever I am, I honor Him, give Him my thanks, then have my conversation with Him…especially in places that are special to me, because He made that all possible…

I would like to fish an area on the Merced river that is artificial baits and barbless hooks only. Catch and release. What is the best way to remove the barb from a hook?File, grind or cut it off? How much harder is it to land a fish with a barbless hook? Never done this before.

You can purchase barbless hooks on-line, that way, no game warden can question your honesty regarding the use of barbless hooks…while fishing with them, the key to success is to keep constant, gentle pressure on the line, don’t “pump” the fish in…a slack line increases the chances of the hook working its way out…hope that helps, best of luck and enjoy to new challenge….

A comment on another post made me start thinking. What is the biggest fish you have ever landed on the old classic Mitchell 300? Mine was a larger than average King salmon from the Sacramento River, CA.

I was fly lining a sardine and landed a 14 lb sand bass…such a thrill, I was probably 12 years old….

I have been having some recent issues with fatigue and shortness of breath, and more so the past few days. My primary care doctor sent me to the Cardiologist yesterday, where they did an EKG. It showed some “irregularities”, so he is sending me to have a heart cath done early tomorrow morning, at the hospital, to see what they can find out. I would very much appreciate the prayers of all of you who believe in the power of prayer. I hope and pray it is nothing serious, but there are even some risks involved in the procedure; not to mention, I can ALWAYS use a few extra prayers anyway! 🥴
I will let y’all know how it goes, once I know more.
Thank you, everyone! 🙏🏻

Finally got a chance to get out to the lakes and get some fishing in…really nice weather, and some really nice people out there…one guy in particular was really successful, and he noticed I wasn’t quite as, so he took pity on me and taught me how to fish a mouse tail correctly…too bad it was close to closing, but with his help, I was able to bag two more nice ‘bows before closing…

In my opinion, it is a league of 'cry babies' and I refuse to spend time viewing it. No one has to do what I do, or believe as I do, but ever since Kepurnick and his antics, I have given up on Pro ball. Just Sayin...RJS

I agree with you fully, RJS, Kapurnick was definitely a total IDIOT, and what happened to him afterwards was more than fitting, which was getting fired and never being scouted or playing football ever again…but what I’ve seen replace what he tried to ruin is something quite inspiring though, so maybe you might once again want to view pro ball once in a while, and that was a full military honor and honor guard displaying the flag, inspiring words from Johnny Cash about honoring the flag and what it represents, and grown men moved to tears when the national anthem is played…I am, and have always been proud to be an American, and have never taken for granted what sacrifices were made so that I can utter those words, and I am a Chinese American citizen, born of Chinese immigrants, and I was encouraged and inspired to see this sentiment taking hold once again, with great pride, on the playing field….I hope you’ll find the time to watch it once again, if you’re ever moved to again…and thanks for all your great writings…
