Hey there,… I’ve been practicing at the casting pools for quite some time and most of the people that are there usually Spey cast … myself included… I have a 10wt-15’ Spey and a 13’6” 8wt-Spey … honestly,.. I’m fairly new at the Spey game but it’s not as hard as you think….
I’m fairly good with my 8,11,and 12wt./ 9’ single hand saltwater rods… been shooting around 90’+ but if you miss a few days not casting you get stale very quickly…so, practice, practice, practice
There are plenty of members there to help you even if you are not a member…. I believe the membership is less than $50 a year …. There are benefits being a member… if you guys are inclined to know more … happy casting or swinging the fly..👍😎🤙
Well, I’ve fished the Truckee a few times … there’s some big brown trout in the river … as far as flies go… I would be inclined to use a fat muddler minnow or even a clouser minnow W/ 1/0 hook and 9/10 leader… you can either 2 hand Spey, single hand Spey or however you want to present your flies … good luck 🤞
I was using a CPAP for awhile and I found out the little donut pillows that rest against your nose are quite unhealthy for you and the makers of these products know this but it’s all about revenue…,I’ve decided not to use the CPAP ever again … if you are not sure or aware of what I am saying… please research this …. You will be quite surprised and maybe very disappointed in the medical devices that are supposed to be helping us… just sayin…..
Crappie is a very tasty little fish,… well sometimes they’re not so little … like when they become Slabs pushing 3/5 lbs…..
Anyways I’ve eaten them several different ways … the best for me was steamed Asian style…. the flavour is ver nice and the texture is so delicate… it’s the bomb..!
If you have never eaten fish this style,.. you’re surely missing out…
I’ve heard people call them Slabs as well….crappie or croppie…. But I do believe it’s pronounced as croppy….

I’m sure there are many many real fisher persons here ,… they don’t always reply..I’ve noticed on other fishing apps there are some ridiculous individuals to say the least/ for example; idiots saying Monterey Bay Harbor is fresh water and carp is caught in saltwater…. I believe people here are much smarter than that…
So if you can swing a fly 75/90’ you’re in the game and can consider yourself a real fisher person… but whatever your set up and skill is … do it and do it well…!

Fire line is the shit…! I have it on all of my reels … all conventional… surf casters, bait casters, big lever drag reels.. backing for my fly reels as well shooting line because shooting line only come in 100 feet spools…some saltwater fly reels take a whole lot of backing… you don’t ever want to get spooled on a fly reel…lol 👍😎🤙🙃😂🤗
Braided line has been around a lot longer than most people think! Before it was called braid,….it was called squidding line and it was clearly braided line… of course it wasn’t as advanced as it is today… there many brands to choose from… some I don’t favour….like the one from third world countries… stay far away from those …. Do some research and buy what you really want and need… you can find most anything you want to know from YouTube…!
