I did one even worse one day.I had the day off work So I got up wife my wife and got ready for a day of fishing. I promised wife I'd be back in plenty of time to check the roast in the crock pot. After following her out of drive I decided to get gas at the lake on the way home. After a great morning fishing I left the lake and stopped for gas, thinking I had just enough time to make it home on time I realized I left my wallet in my work cloths. With noway to contact my wife until she got out of work I went back to the lake and fished until she got out of work. Nothing worse then a pissed of woman after a day of fishing.
I have same lure I use a couple clip on weights with it does fine
add a couple cold ones and your set to go fishing.
Best advice I can give you is walk the lake as you come buy other fishermen talk to them most people are happy to help a beginner. They can tell you whats in the lake best time to fish best lures or bait to use and give you advise on setting up your reel.
Very helpful. I maybe doing it all wrong I don't know but I started fishing it cost me $50.00 30 for a rod and reel combo and 20 worth of lures. To date I've caught no bass but have caught 1 trout 4 bluegill and a snapper that took off with a Rapala lure. Pulled him up and cut him lose, wasn't going to lose a finger over a 8.00 lure.
I went fishing, but forgot to call and tell them I was coming so we never met

Hey Odino, I too was in Panama back in the early 70's for the Air Force. However fishing wasn't my calling then. But now in NC fishing as much as possible. Welcome to the site.
I was in Panama in 79- for jungle training with the 1/75th. I fished as a child with my grandad and with my dad in my teenage years after going in the service never found time to fish now that I've retired I spend all the time I can fishing, I'm learning so much more then I ever thought there was to fishing.
I had the same problem with a shakespeare combo I bought at wally world. I finally walked the line on a football zig zagging the line back and forth. so was around 150'to 200' of line I think.reeled it back up and have had no problems with it since. Now if can just catch something besides grass it will all be worth it.
live bait is usually your best bet.
Just joined today as well I used to fish as a kid now 50 years later I have plenty of time to spend on the lakes all day long . I'm in clark county Ohio.
Used to steam fish in Washington All we ever used for bait was corn and cheese.Always caught 6-10 everyday we went out.
