Had freshly caught Walleye once, in a taste test vs. Northern Pike. I was given them separately & didn't know which was which. Call me crazy, but I chose the Pike.
On the other hand, I never ate a trout I didn't like.
Never had so much fun fishing for walleye, pike & muskie in western Ontario province.
Trout would be another, but I'm the worst trout fisherman on earth.
I have 5 of them. My plans are to use them by casting alongside the local kelp beds in SoCal.

Are those the same species as the blue shark in California which also urinate ( ammonium smell ) through their skin.
No, the Salmon Shark is a close relation to the Mako & Great White.

I'm fishing for one in Mossy Oak!
Thank you, Andy. You do the same.
Have you seen large bass in the lake. I've seen 6-8 caught ... all around a pound or less. When I was a little (late 60s) a kid next to me caught a 3-4 pounder, but Laguna is literally a rather new lake, now.
Have you tried nightcrawlers or large plugs? The big ones if there, would have to eat big & often.
Orange Co. CA. ... smack in the middle of the largest asphalt jungle in America.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and learning a lot. Thanks for acknowledging my intro, and I'll be asking and hopefully answering questions soon.
Happy New Years also,
