Nice mess of CC'S. Nice bass too. Get the grease hot. Watch out for the big "lizzards" they think yakers are their buddies and want to play!

Taking the fish out of water for a hero photo probably does more harm than a barbed hook. If it makes you feel better, use barbless hooks, just dont look down your nose at people who dont. The hard scientific data shows little to no measurable difference in mortality between barbed and barbless hooks. Circle hooks would have the greatest benefit since they usually hook the fish in the lips. A barbless hook in the gills or the roof of the mouth is going to be fatal most of the time.

Ok, bank access below the GA power dam is a good place to start. Veterans State Park in Cordele has a couple of fishing piers worth trying. Boat ramps on the Fliny River above and below Albany provide some access points. The State Parks on Lake George (Eufaulla) have access also. The causeway between Eufaulla and Georgetown is worth a try but the walking on the riprap may be difficult in places. A boat opens up a lot of options. March and April are great months to fish there. Crappie, bass, catfish and bluegill are biteing. Go to the Albany office of WRD on Newton Road and talk with the Fisheries Biologist there for more information.

Keep the motors! They will give you good service. The older ones were built to last.

Reb, thats an Alabama shad, some call them skipjacks. Very sporty on light tackle. Gizzards are not as big and deeper bodied.

This is a cross between a florida largemouth and a northern largemouth. NOT A "wiper" or a franken fish. No more risk to other fish than regular largemouth. Relax guys. Many other states do this to try and produce bigger bass. The jury is out on how successful it will be in northern climates.

The Sebastian inlet is the place to go for redfish and snook. It csn get crowded. But dont let that stop you. The far end of the north jetty seems the most reliable. The area where the jetty meets the shore is a good place to cast large jigs and spoons. Live or cut bait also works well. Time your visit near the high or low tides when the current is not too strong. Slack tide is poor for fishing but the time just before and just after is best. Getting a guide will greatly increase your success. The local bait shops can help you find a guide.
