SOUNDS FAMILIAR, NOT ALWAYS GOOD, DIG DEEPER IN THE REASON THEY ARE BEING STOCKED. THEY WILL BE A PREDATOR OF STRIPERS AND HYBRIDS. GET THE DETAILS WHY?

My thought, whenever you mess with the original of anything you’re asking for trouble.

And I'm sure some are going to get over the dam and end up in the Catawba river which goes all the way through SC. and ends up in Charleston. Lots of man made lakes on the way. It's not nice to full with Mother Nature. And I agree with that

This isn’t Margarine either. Something can just NOT buy. This is something they do and if it it’s a good thing great… but if bad….. it’s really bad. If it was just one water body and not attached to other bodies it would be a lot different. Well I hope for all you it’s a Good thing.

So this hybrid thing, is it done on a regular basis, or is it just a spare of the moment thing, that someone comes up with, sitting around a campfire drinking their favorite beer?

The current breed of hybrid stocked in NC/SC is a cross between a striped bass and a white bass, and are sterile. I don’t know what an F1 hybrid is.

Everyone on this site calls them Wipers. I never heard that before I joined this site. That one at Lake Norman I have never heard of.

This is a cross between a florida largemouth and a northern largemouth. NOT A "wiper" or a franken fish. No more risk to other fish than regular largemouth. Relax guys. Many other states do this to try and produce bigger bass. The jury is out on how successful it will be in northern climates.
